Great post Slick....I remember the old Region 6 4A ......Berkeley, Goose Creek, Stall, Middleton, Summerville, Wando, Beaufort, Battery Creek......Remember those days when Summerville had Perry Cuda at QB and went 3 years undefeated..?? (hated every minute of it). I remember when Coach Bryant from Alabama flew in to recruit Cuda. They also had a receiver - Jimmy Harrell - who went on to play at Georgia for Coach Dooley. Summerville was notorious for holding kids back in the 8th grade back then just so they could play football.......I remember Middleton always being tough to play...They had a crappy stadium though...

Wando's old stadium was the worst ..... I remember the ant mounds on the field that you had to dodge.

Agree......I think back then the lower and upper state championship games along with the state championship games were played at the "respective home team's stadium." Coach McKissick would usually move the lower state championship game to the Citadel as well as the State Championship game if Summerville was the home team. I think the year it was played at Irmo was a Coach Turbeville trick to keep the Summerville fan base from being able to get all their fans into the game.

Slick, there were a couple of times we (Goose Creek) moved our playoff game to your site at Berkeley because our stadium was too small. You guys always got more money from the Berkeley County School District than we did........

OF COURSE ITS THE COUNTY SEAT NOT DUCK DITCH, IRMO PUT THE WAVE ON LITTLE BASEBALL STANDS, HAHAHA, I REMEMBER BACK THEN I BOUGHT A PAIR OF BATTERY OPERATED SOCKS TO KEEP MY FEET WARM AND THEY GOT SO HOT, THEY MADE MY FEET SWEAT AND THEN MY FEET FROZE, HAHAHA
