As expected, starters only played 2 series. Scored on first possession. Coach doesn't like jamboree's. It is what it is

Emerald looked rather uninspired against Saluda in the Saluda jamboree as well. It might be another long year in Greenwood County.

Maybe for emerald but not gwood. Coach Pippin don't like scrimmages. He pulled the starters after two possessions. No disrespect but didn't Abbeville lose too?

Are y'all really surprised by this? Pippin has been doing this crap for 5 years at Greenwood. He'll say the preseason doesn't matter. Then when the season starts and we lose a non region game he'll say it doesn't matter because it's non region. Then we'll lose a region game and he'll say he doesn't know what happened. I'll tell you what happened coach.... You didn't go hard from day one! You can't just turn it on when the damn season starts.

I get what you're saying but look at the big picture. I want to win these games too but the preseason is really for underclassmen to see how they perform under the lights at the varsity level. They do the same thing in college and the NFL. The starters don't even play in NFL preseason until the last week! Plus there is another issue of having video of teams. Example... We play in week zero, the next week we play at Gaffney but it's their first game. We won't have the video on them that they have on us. That could be another reason he pulls the starters

Understand where Pippen is coming from. But one would assume that this is a critical year for him. Many aren't satisfied and wish he had gotten run last year. Figure they will get their wish without a big season. I'd not worry about the young ones at this point and make sure the starters are spot on when the season begins.

As far as Emerald. That is a mystery to me. They had enough talent on that team last year to challenge for a trip to Columbia. But didn't come close. Been that way for a while down there. You see the physical talent and wonder why that school isn't more of a force. Not sure if it is a culture, or a coaching issue. But if they ever get someone to straighten it out down there Emerald would be a problem for a lot of teams.

Yeah, we lost by one score to Strom Thurmond. But I still feel pretty good about us. What has Pippin accomplished at Greenwood? What makes you think this team is gonna be better than they were last year? I read that article and all i hear is excuses... if that's the mentality you have in the preseason, what are you gonna do when things get tough in the regular season?

The Abbeville vs Strom Thurmond was an excellent scrimmage, but it had nothing to do with winning and losing and everything to do with execution. Both teams played hard for two quarters. ST was able to match the speed and physicality of Abbeville. No telling what the outcome would have been in an actual 4 quarter game. That’s how evenly matched and competitive our scrimmage was. I think both teams got enough work against each other to build off of them.
