This might be Carolina Forest's year...

Carolina Forest had a bye in week 0. The other 5 teams in 5A-6 played and most underperformed against smaller or weak opponents. West Florence lost a ton of talent, their 23-0 win over Crestwood doesn't really prove they've reloaded, they are still a "question mark". It looks like Myrtle Beach is the only challenge on CF's schedule, I think it is likely they will finish 9-1 overall, 5-0 in region 5A-6. Their weak schedule will leave them unprepared for 5A post-season play, they will lose at home in either the first or 2nd round.
By far, they have the largest enrollment of any school in 5A-6, it's about time they make a run for the region title. Who knows, they may have a good enough year that one or more of their fans crawl out of their pampered, over-privileged Horry hole and start posting here.
Hey Panthers!!! Come out and play!!! Please, tell us why CF needs to be so much bigger than neighboring Conway, Socastee, Myrtle Beach and St. James. Are you guys overcompensating for some..... short coming?

There just is not much of a football culture there and no kind of football history. The administration seems to be happy with they have. The coach knows it. I was at the MB-CF game two years ago and CF goes for a 4th and long on their own side of the field in the 2nd quarter only to turn the ball over on downs and give MB and easy score. I knew right then that coach was too complacent. We will see. Garcia is a good qb, but his receivers dropped way too many balls. I'm now off international drive so I hope to be able to get out to see other teams when I don't work Friday nights. Just went to the NMB game and stood in line forever and missed the first quarter even though I arrived at the stadium 15 minutes early. Then I got blocked in the parking lot.

Nothing happened in week 1 that would make me question this prediction.
The only surprise in 5A-6 was how close the Hartsville @ SF game was. Hartsville lost a lot of talent and they didn't look very sharp. Unless something changes they're not going to win their region. SF's defense and punt blocks kept them in the game but they gave up couple of big pass plays that were the difference in the final score.

CF may win the region only because it’s weaker than usual. QB Mason Garcia is a great player but other than that they are just an average team. WF with Jody Jenerette will win the region. As for Conway? My original prediction was 3-7 again but I’m revising to 1-9. Sad times!

Tigerific you are being to harsh on Socastee! Who's to say they can't turn things around and beat Conway?

Myrtle Beach 43
Carolina Forest 28
West Florence 29
Camden 31
My original prediction still stands, Carolina Forest finishes: 9-1 (5-0)
The rest of region 6 continues their self-esteem tour of 3A/4A schools,....
It's a real shame that one of them will get to host a playoff game.
