Greenwood at Aiken

I'd really hope we can go down there and blow this team out. Aiken has been terrible for years now. Like if we can't win big in this game it's going to be another long season. Only 27 points and a little over 200 yards of offense combined the first two games for Greenwood..... That pretty much says it all.

Pippin wish all the teams he face this year were like Aiken.

They aren't very good right now. We need to beat the big boys. That's what Greenwood tradition is about.

Greenwood will have no problem with Aiken. Not sure how beating Aiken plays into the Greenwood tradition as noted in a previous post. For the time being, that Greenwood tradition has graduated. Greenwood just not feared anymore by anyone that matters. But Aiken will be easy work. Don't know why they are always so bad, as they have athletes down there. Well I do, but that is a total different thread.

He wasn't talking about beating Aiken being the Greenwood tradition. He was referring to the traditional upstate powers. We certainly don't beat them all the time but we were very competitive with them whether we win or lose. Talking about the Dormans, Gaffneys, Spartanburgs ECT...... And yes we're certainly not there today and have not been under Pippin. I hope Dan can find a way to at least win region which he hasn't done yet either. This is his 6th year at Greenwood and people want results. While he still has this year to prove himself amongst the fan base it may be his last if he can't get Greenwood standard traditional results which is region title and at the least a deep playoff run. This is pure speculation on my part of course.

I wasn't talking about Aiken. I said the "big boys" like Gaffney. Teams we have a long history of playing and competing against. Those are important to the Greenwood faithful. We've traditionally been considered a "big boy" team also. But as you can see from these boards, that respect for us has gone down. People predicting that teams like that will blow us out.

Pippin will keep this game close because of Olajuwon Paige. The old Greenwood would hang 50 to 60 points on the scoreboard.

Try as I might, I cannot think of another team in the entire state that has fallen down as much as Aiken has since they split that school.

If Pippin wants to keep his job he damn sure better not "keep it close". He doesn't have the luxury of being classy with the score. He needs to run it up every chance he gets. Our offense has struggled the past two games and my fear is we don't have to ability to run up the score no matter how bad the other team is. I really expected drastic improvement from last year to this year. I haven't seen any other than punting the football because we haven't scored much. The punting game is about the only thing that's improved
