Has anyone got the explanation as to why Brookland Cayce and Beaufort received first round byes? And why those 2? How was that determined?

CAUSE THEY WANT YALL TO REST FOR THE HARTSVILLE ASS CUTTING IN TWO WEEKS

I won't disagree that Hartsville will be a huge favorite and will most likely end our season. There was another #1 seed playing an at-large team. Lower Richland got Marlboro County as an at-large. Just curious as to how those byes came to be.

I just saw this thread..posted up above on preptalks bracket....as much as i dislike y’all Penguin....this sucks. NO money for 2 schools? WTH? Is it a meaningless game.maybe, but it is not fair IMO.

Because the HSL makes no sense. They have a 0 win team in the 1A playoffs, and gave them a home game.

For some reason the "at large" berths became byes. A week off can be a curse or a blessing, but it surely gives them the chance to go watch their potential opponents in round 1.

...and Newcat is right, two region champions just lost a lot of gate and concessions money.

Hey Penguin. I was wondering the same thing. It could be a good thing or a bad thing with this bye for Beaufort. The Bad thing is that Beaufort is flying high right now with 4 straight wins and the off week might hurt them and the school will not get the home gate money. But the great thing about a bye this week is that Beaufort will make the 2nd round of the 4A Playoffs, the players that are hurt have more time to heal, Beaufort will have 2 weeks of practice to get ready for their next game, and the big plus side is the Beaufort coaches can go scout their next opponent in the South Aiken at Hartsville game.

Hey Newcat, you don't like Beaufort? . lol. If Beaufort does play Hartsville in 2 weeks I like my chances playing them at home then at their place.
