Newberry 14, Chester 7 final

Newberry gets a 39 yard TD run from OT Sims on 4th and 1 with under 4 minutes to play. The Bulldog defense holds Chester to 149 yards of total offense and overcome 3 turnovers, including 2 in the endzone, to beat the defending state champs on the road.

Yes it is! Now we travel to our old region foe Chapman next Friday. The 2 games Newberry and Chapman played in 2016 are still best 2 best high school games I have ever been to in my life. This one may not be, but no matter what this team showed heart and character tonight.

Thanks. I can tell you our defense hasn't played like that all year. I didn't think we would be able to handle y'all's running game.

A bit surprising. But Newberry is a big team that Chester just cant push around like they do a lot of their competition. And they have the added benefit of Phil Strickland on their sideline. I didnt see it coming this week, probably next. But Chester hadnt been as dominant all year as they seemed to be last year, despite their high ranking. Know their QB missed some time being hurt, but assume he played last night.
