Lugoff Summerville takeaway- Missed opportunities

Went to the Lugoff-Elgin Summerville game Friday night and here are my observations. First quarter the team were feeling each other out and not much happening either way. Second quarter Summerville takes the ball and goes 95 yards for the score. Threw a tunnel screen and number 7 out ran the D for a score. Summerville took their next possession and fumbled inside the ten. Lugoff got the ball inside the 20 twice and came away with no points. Had a TD called back on an obvious holding that led to a Summerville interception and a missed field goal. Third quarter the only scoring opportunity was when Summerville barely missed a long field goal. The 4th quarter started with Lugoff scoring on a long TD pass. Summerville turned it over on the first play and Lugoff could not do much with it after a big sack and an interception. Summerville turned it over with an interception on their first play and Lugoff took over at midfield. They drove the ball to the one and may have been in the endzone but ended up kicking a field goal from the one. Summerville took the final drive and were on the move. Lugoff got a sack to make it third and 15 but did not contain the qb who scrambled and picked up the first down. A couple running plays later Summerville was inside the 10 getting ready to score when the ball popped out and Lugoff recovered in the endzone. At this point in time the line official came out and send he was down on the one. I was sitting at the 50 and can tell you the back was not down. He was either in the endzone or fumbled. Summerville got the ball back and punched it in for the win. It was a good hard nosed high school football game. Impressed with the fight in both teams.
