How were the teams assigned for realignment? Look at the numbers - they simply don't make sense.
Examples:
Chapin HS - realigned to 5A Region 5 (enroll: 1487)
West Flor HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1709)
S Flor HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1677)
Conway HS - realigned to 5A Region 6 (enroll: 1583)

There are also other factors that are taken into account to get the final number.....these are just a couple possibilities...HiTechRedNeck wrote:How were the teams assigned for realignment? Look at the numbers - they simply don't make sense.
Examples:
Chapin HS - realigned to 5A Region 5 (enroll: 1487)
West Flor HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1709)
S Flor HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1677)
Conway HS - realigned to 5A Region 6 (enroll: 1583)
1. SCHSL made a change and doesn't count all the grades (9-12), only grades 9-11 are counted. This is a change for the better.
It only counts the students that will be participating and doesn't punish a school that had a large 12th grade class that will no longer be at the school.
2. Some schools have charters schools, schools for the arts, etc. in their districts that get added to the count for those schools (because those kids are eligible to participate in sports at the school).
Examples:
Chapin HS - realigned to 5A Region 5 (enroll: 1487)-(9-11 enrollment is 1166 + plus a portion of the 865 students from Spring Hill High School within Lexington 05). Chapin only needed 120+ to be in 5A.
(Note: I think Dutch Fork and Irmo have students added from there as well, Irmo's apparently weren't enough to push them to 5A)
West Florence HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1709) - (9-11 enrollment is 1,290)
S Flor HS - realigned to 4A Region 6 (enroll: 1677) -(9-11 enrollment is 1,264)
Conway HS - realigned to 5A Region 6 (enroll: 1583) - (9-11 enrollment is 1,282) and is in Horry 01
Note: Horry 01 also lists a couple of other schools
(HCS early college high 9-11 enrollment is 280)
(Palmetto Academy Motorsports 9-11 enrollment is 156)
Just a guess, but Conway might have some students added to their count from these schools.

They would have only needed 9 more to pass West Florence.
Also, the SCHSL just likes to mess with Tigerific....

just kidding....

It will be interesting to see what the final numbers actually were....

Conway gets some from early college and the academy for arts and technology.
