So only principal's, head coaches and AD's get a league pass for free. Assistants must pay $25.00.
I am sure many schools will pay for assistant coaches but many will refuse due to poor leadership.

Re: SCHSL PASSES
hmm not sure what to think, and not sure what they are trying to accomplish with these rules
as far as drawing only from the zone they are in, they need to pick a good zone to build their school! Like Legion is in South Pointe's zone, and that is a good one to draw from. If I am a player from NW, RH, or elsewhere and want to go to Legion, could we simply move into the attendance zone and be eligible? What about moving in from another part of the state, is that ok?
then you're getting into, is this a legitimate move, or for athletic purposes? Like the QB from York who played for Clover last year (also their top 2 defenders were from York also). I know that situation was a little different as the QB already lived in the Clover zone and had played at York for 2 years (9th and 10th), then went to Clover under a hardship ruling.
It's the age old debate. Should players be able to move and transfer. I use to think, absolutely not, go to the school you are zoned for. Now it's like, meh, if a player wants to leave let him/her leave and move on (guess things change with age)
Charter schools, Private schools, Home schools are here to stay. Guess we better get used to it

Re: SCHSL PASSES
as far as making schools pay for high school league passes, maybe they were paying all along and the schools viewed it as "fees" paid the the hsl, I do not know.
if they are charging $25 for high school league passes to assistant coaches, that's a small cost in my book. It's a pass that gets you and your spouse (or your spouse and a child) into every high school event for free, and that can add up quickly
at the schools I've worked for there were upwards of 50-100 high school league passes given to the coaches, admins, athletic secretaries, etc. Lots of passes times lots of schools
Then there are schools that let all district employees in free, as well as all band parents (volunteers), as as well as all coaches relatives. Pretty soon, you play a game with 10k there (I know that's rare these days, but it use to happen) and the gate money is 30k instead of 60k
I might be in the minority or not, but I want to pay my way in and do

Re: SCHSL PASSES
Yeah SP might be a good zone to pull FB or BB players, but smallest zone in the city. IDK i think these charter schools are gonna excel in the travel ball sports, could be wrong but no free/reduce lunch is a factorOnion Rings wrote:hmm not sure what to think, and not sure what they are trying to accomplish with these rules
