Brynes Soph Rushed for over 300 yards

Sophomore Mack Long erased a very familiar name from the top spot in the Rebels record books last night. After posting 308 yards, Mack Long bumped Marcus Lattimore to the #2 spot for a single game rushing record last night against the Spartanburg Vikings. A totally different type of running back, but with similar results. Long looked more like Barry Sanders with his quick, slashing style with a burst of speed that left the Viking defenders looking at empty hands plenty of times.

On a different note, the new Vikings Stadium looks very impressive:

Holy moley......Dunkin High has been QB central for so many years with huge success throwing the ball. 300 yard games in High School are few and far between. Congrats to the young fella. Job well done.

The official stats had the QB at 3-7 but I only remember 2 completions, one a flare into the flat to the WR, sort of a WR Screen on the second drive and a pass to the TE midway through the 4th quarter.

The book on Long is SPEED, SPEED, MORE SPEED and QUICK SLASHING MOVES. I honestly have no hesitation comparing his style to Barry Sanders {not comparing his talent, just his style}. Those of us old enough to remember Barry Sanders will remember his ability to change directions without losing any speed... sometimes it even appeared he could change directions in the middle of a jump.

Long planted his foot one time and cut back to the middle and three Vikings ran all over each other and neither of them put a hand on the RB. Comparing him to a former Rebel Running Back; I would say Prince Miller's first game at {sorry Jack} Easley at the old stadium when as a freshman, he ran all over the Green Wave.

It's almost like the Spartanburg defense couldn't see him due to that huge OL!! He would hit a crease and bammmmm
3 more years
I told my buddy that in all my years of watching and supporting Byrnes , I can't remember a game were we had only like 10 passes! :o

And I know a lot of talk is about the Long kid but the QB was just as big as a threat! #19 is a GROWN MAN :D :D

If he gets to were he can connect on some of his throws ..LOOK OUT!!
Byrnes could make some noise!
