BEAUFORT-48 HOWARD JOHNSON-6

Post by Penguin »

Middle of the 2nd quarter, Beaufort had scored 5 touchdowns, the Trojans didn't even have a single first down. A couple of knucklehead penalties on Beaufort allowed the Trojans to get a FG late in the first half, and then with a running clock and backups all over the field, the Trojans kicked another FG with 2 minutes left and trailing 48-3.

The new turf and stadium upgrades are impressive. Covid-19 restrictions were in place and kept the crowd separated and safe. The second half was very sloppily played and looked like a first game of the season. Beaufort is strong on the defensive side of the ball, and moderately efficient offensively. My big takeaway is, I don't know how to say this any other way, just how bad James Island is. They have the look of a team that will struggle to win just one game. I never have seen a James Island team in this much disarray. How they managed to compete at the 5A level last year is mind boggling.

On to South Bluffton to face the Sharks next week in what will be the defacto Region Championship game. The winner will be the #1 seed from Region VII, and the loser will be the #2 seed. Hopefully we can get these next 5 weeks in the books with no more cancellations or postponements. Good luck to the Trojans, hope they can somehow get things turned around.

Their FG team was very good. The snaps were crisp and accurate. Their punting was not so good. We blocked one punt and ran into the punter on another occasion. That penalty led to a FG. The snaps varied from rolling to being very high. Overall they did get the job done with the exception of the one blocked punt. That team has a ways to go before they become competitive. The players appeared overwhelmed and unprepared. James Island has always had good athletes. I did not see that last night. They played hard, just not efficient. I would say that lack of practice time is hurting them very bad.

Man, It was so great to finally get to see My Beaufort Eagles Football Team Kickoff their 2020 Season!!!! My Eagles really looked great and Dominated this game against James Island. Beaufort's Offense and Defense both looked really good in this game. On Offense Beaufort QB Tyler Haley played great running the Eagles. Haley had a good night Throwing the Football and also running the ball. Beaufort is again loaded at the Running back Position with Jaylin Houseal and Amariee Morris. Both of them looked really good running the football. Also Eagle WR Marcus Goodwater had a great night catching the Football. Beaufort's Offense will be hard to stop with them Running and Throwing the Football.

As for The Eagles "D". They looked amazing!!!! James Island could not do much of anything on the night. The Trojans only had a few First Downs in the Game and didn't get their 1st First Down until late in the 2nd Quarter. I haven't seen the Statistics of the game yet but James Island didn't have many yards at all. The Trojans only points came on 2 Fieldgoals.

I have to say that Beaufort's New Artificial Turf Field and Scoreboard looked Amazing!!!! The Weather was nice also. It was a Great Win to start out the Season for My Eagles Football Team. I am thankful that I was able to make this game and hope to make the rest of them. Congrats to the Seniors also being Honored as it was Senior Night at the Game.

Next up for Beaufort is a BIG BIG BIG Region 7 4A Game at May River next week. The winner of that Game will have the Upperhand at being Region Champs. This Game should be one of the BIGGEST in the State. I am so anxious about it!!!!
