BEAUFORT-48 HOWARD JOHNSON-6

Middle of the 2nd quarter, Beaufort had scored 5 touchdowns, the Trojans didn't even have a single first down. A couple of knucklehead penalties on Beaufort allowed the Trojans to get a FG late in the first half, and then with a running clock and backups all over the field, the Trojans kicked another FG with 2 minutes left and trailing 48-3.
The new turf and stadium upgrades are impressive. Covid-19 restrictions were in place and kept the crowd separated and safe. The second half was very sloppily played and looked like a first game of the season. Beaufort is strong on the defensive side of the ball, and moderately efficient offensively. My big takeaway is, I don't know how to say this any other way, just how bad James Island is. They have the look of a team that will struggle to win just one game. I never have seen a James Island team in this much disarray. How they managed to compete at the 5A level last year is mind boggling.
On to South Bluffton to face the Sharks next week in what will be the defacto Region Championship game. The winner will be the #1 seed from Region VII, and the loser will be the #2 seed. Hopefully we can get these next 5 weeks in the books with no more cancellations or postponements. Good luck to the Trojans, hope they can somehow get things turned around.
