Abbeville is for real

Abbeville looked like a state contender tonight. The first quarter we were completely outmatched. Their speed and execution was giving us fits. After the first quarter we made adjustments and played our game. Christ school has a fantastic team. We've got work to do but tonight spoke volumes. Great 35-21 win Panthers!!!!

With so many new players at key positions I was cautiously optimistic about this season. The team hadn't been challenged until Friday night so it was hard to judge. After Friday night it's clear that the team hadn't skipped a beat.

My point exactly. They lose key players, just like all teams. But Abbeville never seems to skip a beat. They seem to just replace the senior with a sophomore and go about business as usual. That just shows how they run that program.

Abbeville has done a good job of growing players from the rec league on up. Those kids learn the plays at an early age and for the most part continue to play together all the way through school. That is certainly an advantage over other schools who pull kids in from different areas for high school. Bigger schools may have a bigger talent pool, but keeping kids playing together can make a strong team. Abbeville is proof.
