Definitely was the best 2 loss team in the state this year. 3 points kept the Bulldogs from being undefeated with an extremely young team . New coach D'Angelo Bryant has revitalized the Bulldog tradition in 2 short years after Burton Abel destroyed the Bulldogs in his 2 year tenure. Future 5 star freshman running back Traevon Dunbar ran all over every defense they faced averaging almost 200 yds and 3 tds a game. The future is bright in Petticoat Junction.

Now that is a mighty bold prediction from a team that really hasn't been heard from in 20 years, lost to Barnwell and Wade Hampton, neither very good teams. But hey, I like your optimism, I wouldn't mind SB getting back to being competitive once again. Also add B-L, Pageland-Central, and to some extent, Barnwell, they are at least, somewhat better last several years. These are once proud, powerful 2A programs that have just been way down, for whatever reason. Abbeville has had some monumental battles with SB, B-L, and P-C in the past. I am all for some more of that.

I’d say pump the brakes a little. Smaller goals like winning your region should be first priority. Then start building from there. I mean did Abbeville decide that this is thier last year playing . Are they giving up football? It’s a resounding No!

I wish Beaudiddley was still around to see it! Nice to see you posting Glock.

Add me to the list that would love to see silver bluff and pageland central back as powers. Newberry has played both before and they were good games. We ended silver bluff's 30 game win streak week 1 of my senior year and played them the next season at Silver bluff. I think we have only played pageland central once, in maybe 2012 in the playoffs. What is referred to by myself and my friends that rode with me that night as the 4th down spike game. Newberry was winning 21-14 with under a minute left, pageland was drivinf to tie the game, QB for pageland central got sacked on 3rd down, got everybody set, and then spiked the ball. I felt so bad for that kid. As soon as he did it, he looked at their sideline for a play and just put his hands on his helmet realizing what he had just done.

I think that is the longest ride I have made for a Newberry game. We kept driving and kept driving with nothing in sight, not even lights. Then we saw the lights of the stadium out of the country night, like a beacon calling everybody in. That s what 2A football is about, small towns shutting everything down to support their boys on a cold Friday night. I've been to games in big cities where everybody is going about their business like it's a normal Friday night, it isn t the same. Not even when it's a huge game is the atmosphere the same as when it's small town football.

Agreed. Nothing like it. Come on back P-C, B-L, SB, and throw in Cheraw too. Abbeville and Newberry want to play you in some big games again. The only ride longer than Pageland is to Cheraw. It's on the other side of Chesterfield, which is on the other side of Pageland. Whew! Long ride.

Hopefully Newberry will be back playing in big games next year. 2 losses this year by a combined 8 points. We had to move a slot wr to qb this year because our 6'6 qb missed the season due to injury. He should be back next year. I think we had only had 9 seniors this year. A few years ago we lost nearly 30 off the 2017 team. We will return our top rb, a 6'4 wr that has over 10 d1 offers already, and a lot of young talent. I think we play Abbeville week 1, which is what was planned for 2020 before the world got screwed up.

Seems like forever ago that we were playing Thanksgiving weekend every year. I told people to enjoy it because it doesn't happen for most people that often. If Batesnurg gets back, and Saluda is close to what they have had in the last few years, our region will be a battle next year. Im looking forward to the season already. 5 games wasnt enough.
