SC football state title game pushed back as one team deals with COVID-19

Marion has a COVID-19 issue within its program, so Friday’s scheduled title game for Dec. 4 in Columbia will be moved to 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 at Benedict College.

Marion football team is being quarantined right now and will resume practice Dec. 15.

This is the second time in the postseason that a team has had to deal with a coronavirus issue. Oceanside Collegiate had COVID concerns and forfeited its second-round game against Camden.

If they just give a co. Championship.its bullcrap because they changed what they said.i realky dont give a crap how they do it .but if you pick a plan and a rule either stick with it or don't make the rule. That sime cowardly sometimey crap.

Why the drop dead date of next Friday? Could they not wait until post Christmas if needed? Got a feeling Jerome, and his minions, just want this thing over. I don't think they wanted to play the season. I think they spent the summer doing nothing as they assumed they could trash the fall due to the virus. Then they got caught totally unprepared and had to throw something together at the last minute. These two teams need to be able to settle it on the field. If they can't play it until January, so be it. Having co-champions is a joke and the easy way out.

Yes it is .i also think they shoukd have delayed playoff games .i do not think they had any intention.bit the natives got restless they didnt want to deal with people raisung hell.
Job security .the schl has been controversial and really unchecked for decades made bonehead decisions .
They did the bare minimum to keep everyone somewhat quiet .
They know they need to be reconstructed as a functioning entity .that most agree on.not everyone will be hapoy .but the majority of A.D do not currently truly believe thats a functional board.
I guarantee you they thought schools would be closed.
So they would be off the hook.
