Already looking ahead... I think the Silver Foxes lose 18 or 19 seniors off this roster, however they have 30+ juniors and 30+ sophomores on the roster that should be returning. On offense they have at WR Williams, Hyatt and Sowell back...which should be the best set in the state. At RB they have Green and Taylor back. Three OL starters plus additional OL with significant game time return, and a starting TE. The back-up QB is back as well.
On defense, they do lose key anchors in Travis Batts and Trace Danley, but they have several starters returning to include LBs Chandler Perry and CJ Wicker and FS Landon Danley, plus several other starters and those with significant game time. Solid group.
Looking at contenders, in the Lower State always have to look at Fort Dorchester first...talent and coaching. Sumter, Carolina Forest, ....River Bluff is a developing program with a bright future as well.
Upper State, recent history points toward Hanna and Dorman and no reason to think otherwise. Have to add Northwestern to the mix. They looked like the NW of a few years back last season.
OK, OK...I can hear the potential groans....so I will add Summerville, Byrnes and Gaffney. That being said, DF should have the best chance to win the 5A title of all the teams...

Any chance they are able to reschedule that game with IMG that got cancelled this year? I was looking forward to watching it.

Re: Dutch Fork... Six-Peat?
nobody groaning. if no major coaching changes are made among the contenders (like Gaffney), DF will win #6, then 7 then 8. Or as long as TK wants to take it
Dorman can match up personnel wise but not in game planning (especially on defense where they are really lacking scheme wise)
NW has a good thing going, and has great offensive play calling, so they could be a factor
Byrnes, I'm, not seeing it but you never know. They have no passing game
Gaffney is the team with the personnel to match up and beat anyone (check out their D-line from last year), but their play calling on both sides of the ball has proven to be not adequate.
TL Hanna probably has the best coach other than TK. Can a wing-t team ever beat a TK team? Would be tough and would have to be special conditions
Spartanburg, we will see of they can get the bloodlines going over there. Hodge is a great play caller, but they may be a couple years away
I'm sure everyone realizes it, but with TK, you are witnessing the best coach in the last 40 years of SC football, and it's not even close. I mean he went undefeated for 6 straight years at Indy in the highest classification, and now will do the same thing here.
This is a legendary thing we are seeing here and yes it will continue. He could have done the same thing at all of the schools I have listed here. It is unprecedented and won't be seen again for a very long time

Re: Dutch Fork... Six-Peat?
DF will be favorites to be state champs next year.. I'm already hearing that they have a stud QB that more than likely will be transferring in! DF is the standard of SC football !
Dorman and Gaffney graduates over 30 seniors . Don't see them really being able to contend next year.
TL Hanna /NW will be the two teams that will come out of the upper state next year.
Byrnes have the talent returning next year, things in Duncan are very unstable right now! Community is not happy right now!
The lack of not being able to throw the ball is very disturbing . Don't know how much losing spring and 7 on 7 played a role in that!
May be a must trip to state or may be a change????

Re: Dutch Fork... Six-Peat?
Heard many people say that if somebody was going to get DF they needed to get them this year. Was said that this was the transition year from one talent batch to the next. And they sure did play a number of impact sophomores. Combined with having the best coach in high school football on the sidelines doesn't bode well for anyone looking to unseat them. I don't see any of your traditional power teams out of the upstate being in position to challenge. NW and Hanna seem to have jumped into that level, but don't see either of them taking them down. Heck, is a monsoon hadn't hit the other night DF might have scored 60. What Knotts has done at DF is impressive to watch. Of course, like someone said above, if he had gone to Gaffney, Byrnes, or any other school, we would be witnessing the same domination from them.
Re: Dutch Fork... Six-Peat?
Im worried about next season period.if covid isnt under control .it won't happen.the schl is incompetent.they got exposed.they wont let it happen.
Re: Dutch Fork... Six-Peat?
I agree with you Onion....until Gaffney makes changes...major changes...u will hear no moaning from us..we know what it is...but Jones said he plans to return next season...we need a Joe Mac like change from the early 90's ...it ain't just the play calling..it's the culture...no one fears the tribe anymore...Onion Rings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 8:32 amnobody groaning. if no major coaching changes are made among the contenders (like Gaffney), DF will win #6, then 7 then 8. This was the year to beat DF, or at least I thought it was. Knotts worked his magic and proved the Silver Foxes were 3+ TDs better than any other team in the state. Barring any more craziness from COVID or some big shake up at DF, the next two seasons for DF are going to be special. Top flight talent on board, with Knotts and Pelham working their plan. Buckle-up South Carolina High School Football...
