So basically you get penalized for being good and you get rewarded for stinking. How progressive of them. How about if ain’t broke don’t fix . I liked the old big 16 breakdown. It just seem to take the advantage of large school small school out of the equation. What their talking about clouds the water and we all know how hard a point system and trying to figure that out can be. Keep it simple stupid . An example of what this would do . Well abbeville would’ve been playing against 5A competition this year . So would’ve Chapman . While riverside would be playing 2a ball . How about let the people that actually won’t to care about high school football and work at it thrive in their own situations. Quit babysitting people and communities that don’t care and won’t put the work in.

I'm guessing they are targeting the private and charter schools with this proposal but it casts a broad net. It's a real bad idea. High School teams turn over talent too quickly. They would be promoting and demoting schools based on the performance of students that have graduated.

SC not big enough for 6 divisions. Would water down winning a championship imo..Big 16 did work. The greatest state championship games were some of the Big 16 title games

having more students is a huge advantage even though Wando has not figured that out

Also am hearing some private schools considering leaving the hsl and it's regulations. Then they would not forced into a region they don't want and are free to schedule and travel as they please

looking to show case their kids

But how many times did 0-11 teams automatically get into the playoffs while 9-2 and 8-3 teams were left out? Saying that the Big 16 worked is blatantly false. While there were some great title games, there were also egregious errors in that format.

Nobody is being penalized for anything. The move would only be for 2 years should a team not be up to the move. Think of it this way; Take Abbeville for instance. They are 2A and would be reclassified as 3A for 2 years. Unless they managed to accrue 8 points in the playoff scenario, they would remain at 3A until they were so bad that they fell back. For a team with that much success, playing better opposition would only make them stronger, while opening up 2A to other capable teams. It isn't a bad idea unless you are scared of stiffer competition.

I hate to break the bad news to you, but the head count at the top school in the state compared to the 52nd best, is quite substantial. SC is big enough for 6, 7, or more Classifications if that is what it takes to get to a more apples vs. apples competitive slate. The top Classification in this state currently, should be no more than 16 schools, size wise.

The argument that some team with poor record gets in while teams with good records get left out happens every year. That’s what happens when you water down the playoffs with an additional game. The big 16 model allowed for better competition at the four lower level divisions. So if you break those down even farther then everyone is going to be in the playoffs regardless of record. Also there’s going to be so much confusion on scheduling. You may be playing different schools on football basketball and baseball on the same year . That’s a real good way to develop rivalries and traditions right. No that’s a mess. It basically comes down to some schools choose not to compete or put the effort in . And instead of letting those fail we have to make it easier for them because everybody deserves a participation trophy.

I remember in 2014 we had 2a division 1 and 2a division 2.the teams were based on enrollment.
i said this would not work come playoffs.when playoff time came they moved Keenan and Timberland
from division 1 to division 2.My 96 Wildcats lost to Keenan for the upper state championship and
Timberland beat Keenan in the championship game division 2.so you had 2 division 1 teams play
for the state championship in division 2 and Dillon beat Newberry in division 1.so we had 4 division
1 teams actually play for both 2a titles. So you can bet they will screw this up also.
