For South Florence High School, the timing for a brand-new strength and conditioning facility couldn’t have been better.

In a year that was anything but predictable, the athletic department at South Florence decided to create a positive change for their students and athletes. Initiated by a superintendent who wanted to go above and beyond to support athletics in the Florence 1 School District, this project took a well-worn training facility and turned it into a Strength Coach’s dream.

Nice looking weight room. In today's realm, any school that wants to field a competitive team, will have football players in that weight room year round. Kids spending 3 or 4 years building up strength and endurance, will be much better prepared for today's High School contests. I was on the sideline for a game this year, and I was really surprised at how big and how fast, the game has become over the last 6 or 8 years. With more schools opting for turf fields, the game gets super fast in a hurry. I attest that to Myrtle Beach's meteoric rise. Northwestern is another example. Dutch Fork is just Tom Knotts. South Carolina is catching up to Texas, Florida, and California, with all of these new turf fields. Speed kills. Congrats to the Bruins and all of the Florence 1 schools, on their new digs. 1st class all the way.
