I don't think Rush was telling anybody anything they don't know. Recruiting is the wild wild west these days. As they say, if you ain't cheating, you ain't winning. In the context of this it seems Rush was trying to impress his booster club president with who, and what, he knew. No doubt in light of his other issues lately trying to convince him that this is how football is done there days and why he needed booster club money to fund some transfers into his program. Rush is a great high school coach. But he seems to think he can just do what he wants because he wins. I think he has finally stepped past the line where he will never coach at the HS level again

Somebody, somewhere, will always offer him a job.

I don't see it this time. If some of the stuff that has come out in Valdosta are true, it paints the picture that no matter where he is that he is intent to do whatever he wants no matter the consequences. And don't forget, he is 63. If he gets back in I would imagine have to be one of his college friends giving him an analyst type job.

Can't be talking about "friends of the program". You're just asking to get black balled. Never the less this was meant to be a private conversation. Gotta be careful who you talk to. Probably some clown from Colquitt County trying to get him fired to avoid a future ass whipping at the hands of Valdosta when he gets the program going the way he wants. The guy wins wherever he goes and gets players into college with a chance at furthering their education. You can't deny him that like him or not.

It has become all too common these days for booster clubs to pay coaches "funny money" for expenses and things that should be going towards the kids. Coach's salaries should not be paid from the money raised by the kids through the sale of gift cards or raffle tickets. Any Principal or School Board that would allow that to happen to kids are just a bunch of crooks.
If the SCHSL or even the regular parents would wise up to the number of dollars that are being paid out (UNKNOWN TO MANY OF THEM) they would find a way to regulate or shut down most fundraising in a skinny minute. Kids don't need to be knocking on the doors of strangers who might be predators anymore, and parents shouldn't be forced to buy the raffle of gift cards that kids are forced to sell. Schools need to become more creative about marketing their brand. Booster clubs need to be forced to at least be transparent about where the money that all booster members are donating with a certified audit of the books that is published for ALL members to be able to see, not just the select few.
While I am on my soapbox, Too many booster clubs are hiding behind rules that most of them create but then choose not to follow. Some BC Presidents think they are like a college fatcat! They think they are entitled to the power and the ability to control the athletic destiny of a High School program. I realize there are a lot of good booster programs out there, but I also know there are some that are leading the sheep astray. Forgive me if I hurt anyone's feelings.
