2021 Schedules

Post by DFOLDMAN »

All I can find for DF is 8 games for the coming season...Chapin, Lexington, White Knoll, Lexington for region play and Byrnes, Spartanburg, Irmo and Wren for non-region. Was hoping for a matchup with Fort Dorchester, South Pointe, Sumter, Summerville or Carolina Forest too but looks to not be in the cards.
From what I hear and read...they look to have another solid team ready to hit the field... fixed on six...

Well....the 'Canes want to see what all the hype is about the Foxes I guess....but after the first quarter, they will find out it ain't hype.

Wren best pack a lunch. DF will have the best set of WRs in the state and one of the best sets in the nation. They are that good. OL returns several starters and backups with a good of deal of experience. OL will be big, strong, smart and mobile. Jarvis Green is a rising star at RB and he has outstanding backups at RB as well. Good TEs returning. QB...we have 4 solid prospects including a strong transfer from NC...6'5" with the tools to be something special. The scouts like him. We have been blessed at the QB position with Reese, Graeson, Ty and Will over these last 5 years.

Best defense around- strong, fast, fly to the ball, and as Knotts likes to say "they will strike you"... need to replace the starting DEs but have several returning with a great deal of experience. Outstanding linebackers in Perry and Wicker...Danley is a star at FS...depth and experience at the corners...I've seen DF ranked top 10 or 15 preseason in some of the national polls. This season and next season are going to be special for DF if covid gives us a chance to play.

I just don’t know why Wren wants to play Dutch Fork in non region then face Daniel in region. 4 of the last 5 times Daniel played them they lost by 30 or more and their “amazing offense” was held to 1 or 2 touchdowns. I don’t know why they want to play Dutch Fork to be embarrassed to open the season.
Go Daniel Lions!!

Hat's off to Wren for signing up. Not knocking them, but beating a 3A team proves nothing- would have loved Fort D, Summerville, Carolina Forest, South Pointe, NW or Dorman...but oh well. Looks like DF still has a couple gaps in their schedule- may wind up with only 8 or 9 during the regular season. DF was 3 or 4 TDs better than any team in the state last season, and all Fox "homerism" aside, probably at least that much better than any other team in the state this season. Some folks say playing DF early is the best bet- I don't know about that. Some say early on, DF will not have hit their stride and worked out all the kinks- well, neither has the opponent. I have seen a lot of good HS football programs in their prime over the years- Spartanburg, Daniel, Clinton, Abbeville, Woodruff, Greenwood, Fort Dorchester, Dorman, Northwestern, South Pointe, Gaffney (well not the 1920s when a lot of those "titles" were won in title town), Byrnes, Summerville (yes, Slick...Summerville in the 70's and 80's was a beast, despite you hatin' on them so)...never saw Spring Valley in their prime or Fairfield Central- Dutch Fork is the best I have seen...the 2018 team is arguably the best SC team ever, and the next couple of seasons- are going to be special if everything stays in place, covid subsides, etc. The Dutch Fork area is special- the right mix of talent and resources and Knotts...well he is the GOAT in the Carolinas. 13 titles...and counting.

Fixed on Six

Don't give Wren too much grief...getting thumped by DF is nothing to be embarrassed about...premier national program. As Knotts says..."it's expected"
