Reading an article about the next Manning and how he might be interested in Clemson.... now, I'm not a Clemson fan, but this article had something that either is 1) a typo, 2) an outright lie, or 3) I missed something....

You read it correctly, there is a major typo, since Clemson has never had a Heisman Trophy winner much less a two time winner. Someone didn't proofread the article.

Well, it makes sense. The author is a Clemson sports reporter....perhaps a sprinkle of bias.
