If 96 can't beat Ware Shoals Friday night we may as well cancel the rest of the season. Ware Shoals had it's hands full beating Calhoun Falls Friday night and Calhoun Falls is possibly the weakest team in the state.

Ninety Six now has zero park and rec football teams...............not enough kids signed up to play at any age level............this is a death sentence for any high school football program..............so sad what the people of 96 allowed their schools to become.......from the very top to the very bottom..........

96 should win this by at least 2TDs. Time for 96 to show some pride and heart. Come on wildcats!

there is no pride in 96 anymore............that left a good while back..........a real wildcat football team would lead lowly ware shoals by 40 points at half time..........

Just learned today that the park and rec football program in 96 has been shut down for all ages.......kids have stopped signing up to play.........any kid playing park and rec ball from 96 must go to greenwood to play.............this is a death sentence for wildcat football..............until this is fixed 96 will feed at the bottom.............

So True plus these travel football teams popping up. Teaching kids 3 or 4 different systems. Grown men stroking their ego. One thing abbeville has did consistently is rec teams look just like the high school team. Now we have a travel team injecting the poison in our perfectly ran system. Football is the only sport that interfere with it's on sport. Example AAU basketball is played in the summer. AAU baseball is played with a winter league. Other states have AAU football seasons that play after regular season football. I wouldn't have a problem with it that way. You need rec teams it's the feeder system to get them to middle school. Travel Football the way people doing it currently will only hinder the smaller towns. AAU worries about snagging the best players out of the smaller towns. Small towns will suffer because if you don't have enough players then no kids gets to play. Example of this is 96, Cfalls, Dixie...some years ware shoals don't have every age group.

Man, I thought it was bad that we only had 4 rec teams per age group in Newberry this year, plus 1 each from Prosperity and Whitmire . 6 teams per age group for the county is sounding better and better.

I couldn't agree more. 100% correct. In Blacksburg, we struggle more with fall ball baseball more than anything. We do good to get enough kids to field a 1st-2nd grade team, 3rd-4th grade team and 5th-6th grade team. If our kids aren't playing fall ball, their parents are signing them up to play for Gaffney teams. Our rec league numbers have increased over the past few years, so there is light at the end of the tunnel, for now.
