They ran through 96 and played Saluda close in the Jamboree. The sports writers don't even have Greenwood ranked, so is this the year?

Never said it on here but off the record convo I've talked to people and said there's no reason that Emerald shouldn't have success. They have the same mold of kids as Greenwood. Just live in a different jurisdiction in Greenwood. All Emerald needed was a little attitude adjustment and coaches that know what they're doing. I think they have that now. Don't think it will happen this year but it's going to happen sooner or later. Greenwood had better take this game seriously.

I don't know if Emerald will beat Greenwood, but I would place my bet on Greenwood. I will say that if they ever merged the two schools back into one that Greenwood would be a school that could be as annually dominant as Dutch Fork with the talent that the town has produced over time. The split has affected Greenwood much like other former powerhouses like Irmo, Summerville, Spring Valley, Spartanburg, etc... I think now that you are in the right classification you should compete for State Championships again regularly! I wish Berkeley was in AAAA because they would do the same. Great school, but they would have to drive forever to play in the proper classification.

I wouldn't read too much into emerald beating down 96................96 is a disaster with no coaching...........

There have been some close calls over the years. Can't imagine beating 5A hillcrest on the road then losing to emerald at home. Greenwood should win this.

Emerald not ready yet...but give those coaches a chance. Different culture Dubose has to deal with there versus abbeville. They should be competitive in a couple years

Close but no cigar. Greenwood would have to have a complete lack of focus or overconfidence to lose this one. Liner won't let that happen.

Not here to debate this again. But Greenwood had the talent to do better than it did in 5A. Schools like Easley, Woodmont, etc aren't powerhouses and Greenwood lost to them.
