Wanted to wait to see us play against some real competition to see how we stack up.
Flora has really good size. They have some monsters on defense. Very disciplined. They don’t give up big plays. They have a good chance to repeat.
Defensively, we are missing DJ Jackson, who is committed to NC State. But they stood tall when faced with lots of adversity throughout the game with absolutely zero help from the offense. Our defense will have to carry us until we figure out who we are offensively.
Offensively, we’re trying to play toward the strengths of our QB. We’re still a run oriented team, but are mixing in a lot of triple option. Our QB was not ready for the moment tonight. 2 lost fumbles and 2 interceptions. Both fumbles inside our own 20 yard line, one leading to their second touchdown. One interception in the end zone on a poor decision. I believe the reason he wasn’t pulled was he probably only played about a quarter and a half of meaningful football last week and we needed to see how he handles the pressure. We turned it over 5 times total. Defense did extremely well to hold Flora to 13 points. But I’ve seen us play this way before. We’re good for at least one game like this per season. With Mark Barnes we’ve been playing our best football in late September into October so I’m confident we’ll figure it out offensively.
