I know SSC is a great football team ,however this lost cant sit well with the Greer community! I know they have a lot of pride and tradition!
I heard it's a lot that goes on behind the scenes , but change at this point got to a least be talked about .

Recruiting is a wonderful thing. Southside Christian has been a total non-factor in football for years until the last 3, or 4. Now, a 2A powerhouse. Another walking, talking, reason why the private schools, the Grays, Legions, Oceanside, etc., should be relegated to their own classification.

While I agree that recruiting schools should be a separate classification, 1A Southside Christian is a little different from Oceanside, etc. It is also a faith based school. So that brings up another question. Where does that leave them?

Southside Christian moved down to 1A last year and won the state championship. They were in 2A for a few years and usually lost to Abbeville in the upper state championship by very little.

Still shouldn't beat Greer in my opinion. Although I believe their best player left for IMG.

SSC has been good for quite some time. They were good in 2a. As a Greer graduate (88) I can tell you that SSC controlled that game. Comparing them to Gray, Oceanside etc is not very accurate. My niece goes there and I have some friends that kids go there. Great school and environment they are by no means a sports factory. My friend is on the Greer staff who will remaining nameless and he told me that they just got beat. No excuse just got beat. The jackets will be back and this was a good wake up call from them. I will be back in the stands cheering them on just like always.

Greer better get a wake up call if they have the team that can respond. And they need to do it soon. They play Union this week. Don't think this is one of Unions better teams. If Greer doesn't win, I could see the wheels come off.

Nah that would be Saluda. Southside Christian only made it to the upperstate once since 2015. I remember the night they beat Saluda to go to the upperstate for the first time. It was cold, rainy, and miserable for a Saluda fan haha. Outside of that year and last year, Saluda has been to the upperstate every year since 2015.

Because of the great success of Abbeville, people don't really mention how good Saluda has been. If it weren't for A'town, Saluda would've won 3 in a row from 2015-2017, to add to the one they actually did win in 2019. I firmly believe this as the lowerstate is no competition for Abbeville, Saluda, or Gray. Maybe even SSC too, even though they have since dropped to 1A
