Beaufort 33, Benedictine Military, Ga. 23 Those Beaufort Eagle have BEF grinning from ear to ear and looks like a legit contender for the playoffs. AAAA in the Lower State is looking strong.
Chapman 41, Boiling Springs 17 Chapman continues to impress, going toe to toe with Byrnes and then putting a hurting on the Bulldogs. Daniel -vs- Chapman down the road would be worth the price of a ticket. (Not to mention the possibility of a Chapman match up with Gaffney in week 5!)
Fort Dorchester 38, Dorman 28 Who had Dorman at 1-2 to start the season? Not me! This one, maybe not as surprising as the loss to Clover as I thought this might be a match up of the two best teams in the state not named DUTCH FORK.
Greenville 24, Mauldin 21 Greenville is another team that has quietly been making people take notice… like Greenwood. They appear to be a complete team and this region could be fun to watch. Greenwood and Greenville match up for a Region Championship appears to be a good bet.
Greer 28, Westside 25 Greer should cause you to scratch your head. Talk about a "which team shows up" type of team, and I think of Greer. 0-0 first quarter against Byrnes and then give up over 50 points in the next 3 quarters. And now a win against Westside and "just in" a loss to Southside Christian as a 13 point favorite, which I thought was a lock on Running With The Dogs.
Northwestern 42, Clover 16 This one makes you wonder, did Clover just have a great Week 0 game against Dorman or is it that Northwestern is that good and Dorman that bad? Then you toss in the fact that South Pointe beat Northwestern and you really wonder.
South Florence 63, Irmo 28 SFBandDad is grinning (as my grandpa used to say) like a mule eating briars! Those Bruins looking good early in the season and appear to be clicking on all eight cylinders. Myrtle Beach, N Myrtle Beach, Wilson, Darlington, and Hartsville all ahead so it gets really interesting as we move forward!
Spartanburg 45, Hillcrest 37 Spartanburg got the QB back and appears to be getting on track. They have a couple of weeks to fine tune things, then they get Dutch Fork….
And now, we have several match ups that feature SC -vs- NC
Catawba Ridge -vs- W. Cabarrus, NC
Central -vs- Piedmont, NC
Chesnee -vs- R S Central, NC
Daniel -vs- Hendersonville, NC
Gaffney -vs- Mallard Creek, NC - Huge crowd and lots of action here. I think the Indians prevail and I for one would not be shocked by a double digit win for the Injuns!
Lake View -vs- Fairmont, NC
North Myrtle Beach -vs- Wallace-Rose Hill, NC
Pickens -vs- Pisgah, NC
South Pointe -vs- Shelby, NC - Didn't South Pointe have Mallard Creek on the schedule for last week? I never saw a score? Here it will be another marque match up across state lines. I'm going with the Stallions!
Beaufort 287.3 West Ashley 278.8 4 - Beaufort moves to a 5A schedule and for some reason, I'm thinking West Ashley gives the Eagles all they want and then some. I want to pick Beaufort, but for some reason, I keep going back to West Ashley.
Then a couple of games that have huge projected margins that old timers cringe at. But based on Current Events look correct:
.........T.L. Hanna 291.1 Belton-Honea Path 245.7 23 -and- James F. Byrnes 283.5 Westside 244.7 20
I always say that football is a "current events" sport and history is nice, but plays no part on Friday night. So why do these margins make me want to cringe?
Old Region Rivals getting together for a non-region meeting, Spartanburg 272.9 Boiling Springs 255.2 9, with both teams needing a win to get their seasons turned around after rough starts. Based on what I've seen so far, I don't think I would take those 9 points, I'm thinking I would need at least 15.
Carolina Forest 301.3 Sumter 288.9 7 thank you Region Six, give us this game twice this year at least. I think this match up is a little bit tainted due to the cancellations and messed up schedules and the loss by Sumter to A C Flora, but 7 point dog Sumter is understandable due to all that.... but still, this should be a good game!

Re: Some thoughts from last week & a couple of thoughts for this week
Both Dorman and fort were missing key players.both teams are better than what they showed . Fort still being the better team though .
Beaufort has a good squad .
Still not sure about gaffney usual talking big by sone at gaffney but really untested.
Myrtle should run through oceanside like pork through a seagull.
The goose creek game is interesting since i know nothing about the other team .

Re: Some thoughts from last week & a couple of thoughts for this week
Thanks for your input Rebel-Fan-74! Yes I still have a BIG SMILE on my face after My Beaufort Eagles getting another win and improving to 4-0 on the Season. I tried to tell everyone that Beaufort would win BIG over West Ashley. From everything that I saw of the Wildcats before the game I just could not see them even playing Beaufort close to a 4 TD Spread. Beaufort had already played 3 teams better than West Ashley. 2 of those Teams Richmond Hill and Effingham County were Bigger Schools with more enrolment than West Ashley. Richmond Hill and Effingham County are 6A Schools in Georgia with Richmond Hill suppose to move up to 7A next season. I am sorry that your Byrnes Rebels lost this week. I was surprised at that score Wow. Take care and good luck to both teams next week.Rebel-Fan-74 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 9:42 amBeaufort 33, Benedictine Military, Ga. 23 Those Beaufort Eagle have BEF grinning from ear to ear and looks like a legit contender for the playoffs. Those Georgia "Powerhouses" Beaufort has played have won 2 games between the 3 teams. The state of Georgia rankings had Benedictine at #87, Richmond Hill at #208 and Effingham County at #337. West Ashley is #80 in the state of SC. I think playing a good team is the measuring stick you need to tout. Oceanside Collegiate has won one game and is ranked #63 in the state of SC. Therefore....no gold star, no smiley face, and no cookie. Just a yawn... I wouldn't dust off a place on the trophy shelf for that state title just yet .
Fear The Fox....Fixed On Six...for Jack #60.

Yeah but you can only schedule those that are supposed to be good .cant really control other teams .DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 7:03 amThose Georgia "Powerhouses" Beaufort has played have won 2 games between the 3 teams. Beaforts a solid 4 a club how solid im not sure .but they played scrimmage summerville and pretty much did simular to gaffney. I saw that 1st hand .
I would think its fair to say they are a good ball club in 4a.
Wilson coached themselves into a bad loss at goose creek.
The starting qb didnt go through progressions had target fixation and was inaccurate. They spotted goose creek 14 21
Points put the second qb in started making a game of it.
Got to within 14 took good qb out put same kid back in.
Wtf that was about ill never know .
Gave a shady interception that bounced up off the ground
Another head scratcher .
Beafort looked a lot better than them .
Re: Some thoughts from last week & a couple of thoughts for this week
Just not drinking the Beaufort Kool-Aid yet....Oceanside or May River will be their biggest tests remaining. Just haven't played any really tough teams yet, and that will bite them come playoff time. Flora, SP, Greenwood, Greenville, NMB, MB and SF are...will make them better come playoff time.Fortfor5 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 7:55 amYeah but you can only schedule those that are supposed to be good .cant really control other teams .DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 7:03 amThose Georgia "Powerhouses" Beaufort has played have won 2 games between the 3 teams. I would agree with DF on 4A. It seems to be the deepest with top tier teams. The other classification once you get past the top 3 or 4 there’s a huge divide.

That would mean they are in the FINALS.

Re: Some thoughts from last week & a couple of thoughts for this week
Our week 3 home game against Lugoff-Elgin was cancelled, I was happy to see we've scheduled a "make up" game at South Pointe in week 4. That should be worth the gas, drive time and price of admission.Rebel-Fan 74 wrote:South Florence 63, Irmo 28 SFBandDad is grinning (as my grandpa used to say) like a mule eating briars! I think Gaffney will be much more than the Rebels can handle and it will be an extremely tough test.

So the 20 point margin was a little off for the Byrnes - Westside game... just a little bit.
