Some thoughts from last week & a couple of thoughts for this week

Beaufort 33, Benedictine Military, Ga. 23 Those Beaufort Eagle have BEF grinning from ear to ear and looks like a legit contender for the playoffs. AAAA in the Lower State is looking strong.
Chapman 41, Boiling Springs 17 Chapman continues to impress, going toe to toe with Byrnes and then putting a hurting on the Bulldogs. Daniel -vs- Chapman down the road would be worth the price of a ticket. (Not to mention the possibility of a Chapman match up with Gaffney in week 5!)
Fort Dorchester 38, Dorman 28 Who had Dorman at 1-2 to start the season? Not me! This one, maybe not as surprising as the loss to Clover as I thought this might be a match up of the two best teams in the state not named DUTCH FORK.
Greenville 24, Mauldin 21 Greenville is another team that has quietly been making people take notice… like Greenwood. They appear to be a complete team and this region could be fun to watch. Greenwood and Greenville match up for a Region Championship appears to be a good bet.
Greer 28, Westside 25 Greer should cause you to scratch your head. Talk about a "which team shows up" type of team, and I think of Greer. 0-0 first quarter against Byrnes and then give up over 50 points in the next 3 quarters. And now a win against Westside and "just in" a loss to Southside Christian as a 13 point favorite, which I thought was a lock on Running With The Dogs.
Northwestern 42, Clover 16 This one makes you wonder, did Clover just have a great Week 0 game against Dorman or is it that Northwestern is that good and Dorman that bad? Then you toss in the fact that South Pointe beat Northwestern and you really wonder.
South Florence 63, Irmo 28 SFBandDad is grinning (as my grandpa used to say) like a mule eating briars! Those Bruins looking good early in the season and appear to be clicking on all eight cylinders. Myrtle Beach, N Myrtle Beach, Wilson, Darlington, and Hartsville all ahead so it gets really interesting as we move forward!
Spartanburg 45, Hillcrest 37 Spartanburg got the QB back and appears to be getting on track. They have a couple of weeks to fine tune things, then they get Dutch Fork….
And now, we have several match ups that feature SC -vs- NC
Catawba Ridge -vs- W. Cabarrus, NC
Central -vs- Piedmont, NC
Chesnee -vs- R S Central, NC
Daniel -vs- Hendersonville, NC
Gaffney -vs- Mallard Creek, NC - Huge crowd and lots of action here. I think the Indians prevail and I for one would not be shocked by a double digit win for the Injuns!
Lake View -vs- Fairmont, NC
North Myrtle Beach -vs- Wallace-Rose Hill, NC
Pickens -vs- Pisgah, NC
South Pointe -vs- Shelby, NC - Didn't South Pointe have Mallard Creek on the schedule for last week? I never saw a score? Here it will be another marque match up across state lines. I'm going with the Stallions!
Beaufort 287.3 West Ashley 278.8 4 - Beaufort moves to a 5A schedule and for some reason, I'm thinking West Ashley gives the Eagles all they want and then some. I want to pick Beaufort, but for some reason, I keep going back to West Ashley.
Then a couple of games that have huge projected margins that old timers cringe at. But based on Current Events look correct:
.........T.L. Hanna 291.1 Belton-Honea Path 245.7 23 -and- James F. Byrnes 283.5 Westside 244.7 20
I always say that football is a "current events" sport and history is nice, but plays no part on Friday night. So why do these margins make me want to cringe?
Old Region Rivals getting together for a non-region meeting, Spartanburg 272.9 Boiling Springs 255.2 9, with both teams needing a win to get their seasons turned around after rough starts. Based on what I've seen so far, I don't think I would take those 9 points, I'm thinking I would need at least 15.
Carolina Forest 301.3 Sumter 288.9 7 thank you Region Six, give us this game twice this year at least. I think this match up is a little bit tainted due to the cancellations and messed up schedules and the loss by Sumter to A C Flora, but 7 point dog Sumter is understandable due to all that.... but still, this should be a good game!
