I think I've figured out the Byrnes Helmet Stickers

Post by Rebel-Fan-74 »

Each STAR represents a player injured and not playing...

and the football represents a TD by the opponent

We have struggled on defense, no questions about it.

On the positive side, we are extremely young and many of the mistakes have been the kind of mistakes that you make when you are still learning. On the not so positive side.... it leads me to ask, why have they made it so far and have not been taught some of the basics? It can be turned around however, it will not be a "flip a switch" type of fix. The issues we see will require a lot of work and a lot of teaching moments (film study, on field coaching, HARD practices). I'm a Byrnes fan and I want to see them turn things around on defense, but I'm also a realist and realize that we have some serious issues that are not part of a playoff team.

Chances in remaining schedule:

Gaffney - I believe that this game would be in the same category as the proverbial snowball in the desert.
Spartanburg - 60-40 Byrnes because it is at home
Riverside - One we should win
Dorman - 50/50 as I can't figure out Dorman either
T L Hanna - I think this one will be 30-70 against the Rebels
Wade Hampton - One we better win

So at 2-2 now, 5-5 is looking like a very likely ceiling for this team with 4-6 not out of the question. At that point, the question becomes does the season results lead to some changes?

We all know that fans, and some AD's, are very quick to call for change and want results! Fair? I don't know if it is fair or not; but we all know that is the world today.

I’m not going to feel sorry for y’all because we all know what those stars on the side really represent.

Y’all will be fine . Going through a valley right now, but over time you will always be in the mix. Now weather Shaw is the guy is a different matter.

If he’s not the answer than who is. Hodge may have been but Spartanburg struck first on that.
It’s a high pressure job for sure.

But as long as y’all have that 3 letter car maker 2 miles down the road y’all will always have plenty of support and money .

Plus the season is still young and really no one in your region is unbeatable ,so a region title is still on the table.

I can't speak for "the Byrnes faithful" but I hear the grumbles, the scuttlebutt (Navy word for gossip) from some folks, but this type of attitude surfaces every time you lose to a team that you "SHOULD HAVE BEATEN" but it is worse when there is a 64-62 loss. The fact that the offense scored all those points (how many teams score 62 and lose?) has made it even worse.

My personal opinion is that "the Byrnes faithful" is on the fence and that the remaining games will go a long way to determine which direction they go. Should they end up not making the playoffs, then the mob mentality will set in and I think it will be the typical statements:

With all this talent, how can we miss the playoffs?.........He didn't have his team ready to play!

He's lost control of the team!........................................We are moving in the wrong direction!

He's over his head in this Region!..................................It's time for a change!

But, is there "all this talent" today? With COVID and all those injuries, ready to play is not relevant, not even going to acknowledge the control because he has control in the unquestioned column for me, and for the last three, nothing but conjecture. For example, is change always good? I'll answer this one myself....

I've given more to the Rebels than BMW and what's even funnier, YOU have given at least as much as BMW.

They give absolutely ZERO to the Rebels.

This is the biggest misconception about Byrnes. Now, having BMW has cause growth in the area, no doubts about it. That may have been the biggest input that BMW has provided.

I never said BMW was the reason for Byrnes success or that they were a direct sponsor.
But if you can’t see the direct correlation between when Byrnes really started coming on and I saw those teams.
And when BMW started then your lying to yourself.

It’s a good thing.

Daniel doesn’t get one dime from Clemson but you don’t think it helps having them in your backyard . Of course it does.

It raises the tax base that allows better facilities and you constantly have more families moving in when people are retiring, not to mention all the other industry that is tied into that company.
It’s a good thing for y’all .
It’s not intended as an insult you still have to put the work in

But ask yourself do you them to go away because look at some of these towns that were mill towns and then the mill went away. They used to be power houses and now their not. You should consider yourselves lucky to have that place over ther.

It raises the tax base that allows better facilities - We have the worst facilities in Region II. I wish we would see some improvement in our facilities..... just ask all the "visitors"

you constantly have more families moving - this is absolutely true, I saw a house in the neighborhood put a sign up on Friday and it's sold as of this morning. New developments on nearly every street you go down around here. Classrooms filled to overflowing, traffic to rival Atlanta on I-85, and it gets worse every time you look at an empty field.... it's either going to be a new housing development or a warehouse pretty soon.

But ask yourself do you them to go away because look at some of these towns that were mill towns and then the mill went away. They used to be power houses and now their not. You should consider yourselves lucky to have that place over ther. Oh you mean like Lyman, Wellford, Startex - all towns that feed into Byrnes?

Please spare us the sob story.
My lying eyes as I drive by your school tells me otherwise.
How much did y’all spend on that scoreboard back in the day and yet your complaint is visitor stands.

Give me a break

And you proved my point those communities do feed into y’all and the industry in those communities which was once the textile industry is no longer there.

Take BMW out and watch how many people would suffer.

It’s real easy math
More jobs equals more people moving to where jobs are.
That means more families with children which mean more kids to draw from talent wise.
More kids equals more competition and depth.
That means better players and teams.

Heck I remember when Byrnes was a small 3a school and now their a strong 5A

But go ahead believe what you want

Just be grateful that plant was flirting with building in Pickens county on Clemson land back in the day.

Man I wish they had and I think Clemson knows they made a mistake by not doing that. The ICAR campus that they built kind of proves it.
