Spartanburg vs Byrnes

Post by trojangrad78 »

So, what will be the reasons given for the loss? Will there be a lot of blaming the officials, coaches call, or what?

I think most people would agree that Spartanburg's problem was never lack of talent on the field, it was lack of talent on the sideline.

Byrnes has been the standard everyone shoots at.

Will this be another NW vs Byrnes game where everyone leaves saying, Dang...that was an awesome game!!!

The Byrnes team has been here before. Miller has been here before. This will be new for the kids from Spartanburg.

Assuming that Byrnes wins, does the score matter? Does the point spread matter? If it is Byrnes +> 21, will the Spartanburg kids get their new found psyche and swagger smacked such that it impacts them for the rest of the season? If Spartanburg wins, will the Byrnes kids wonder about a chink in the Rebel armor?

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Miller knows the ins and outs of Byrnes' systems, but does he have the talent, or has he had to the time to implement what it will take to defeat Byrnes.

I will be keeping tabs on this one as I watch Northwestern vs South Point :-)

I don't have a dog in this fight. However, I expect a 21 point Byrnes victory. I am happy to see Spartanburg winning again. They previously had one of the programs I had loads of respect for. Looks like they are ready to step up once again. :D Good luck to both teams.

I agree. I expect a 21+ point victory. If Byrnes jumps on them early, like up by 14 in the first 4-5 minutes, then I expect a total rout.

Got to watch Spartanburg once last year, Lack of Talent certainly wasn't their issue.
Their offense was one that just ran plays. They didn't look like there was a real game plan.
There was no purpose to their playcalling, they didn't look like they were setting up anything or establishing anything.
Just running plays.
I'm sure that Coach Miller will address this and they will play with a purpose (Offensively and Defensively).

Formation Recognition, Signal Recognition. Could be very interesting?
Sometimes it helps to know whats coming.

Has both coaching staffs adjusted their Terminologies enough? :?:

I remember NC State pulling a fake punt on Florida State because Chuck Amato knew FSU's punt return signals for RETURN RIGHT and RETURN LEFT. Easy to run Left when you know that the defense is going the other way. 8-)

It could be one of the defensive struggles......

Both defenses struggle to even resemble a defense!

I'm thinking 49-35 would be a reasonable estimate.

Byrnes defense certainly showed up against Northwestern in the 2nd half. I was listening to the game headed to the beach to spend time with the family, and it seemed to me that Northwestern never did change their offense to counter the wholesale defensive blitzing that Byrnes started bringing. This point has come up in numerous conversations I had had with people at the game. Everyone said they were shaking their head at why we did not start going deep more when Byrnes sold out to stop the short passing game.

Byrnes is a tested team, even this early in the season. Spartanburg is still an unknown as to how good they really are, or can be.

I don't expect the Byrnes defense to give up 35 points, but I do expect their offense to ring up 42......at least.

I hope, for the players sake, that Spartanburg players don't read these forums. As much as some of the Spartanburg fans have hyped this game, a loss would be devastating.

Toooooo many of the PFT Spartanburg posters think that hiring Miller instantly made the Vikings state champions, even before playing any of the games.

Oh, yeah, lest I forget, Spartanburg is the best team in the state because Byrnes lost to Northwestern and Northwestern lost a scrimmage to Spartanburg. There....I said it. That is about as mouthy/smack talk-ish as I plan to get.
