Death, Taxes, and Saluda being underated in the media polls haha
Re: SC Prep Media Football Polls
Well they will have their chance to prove that this week.
If they beat Gray their the best team in the state.
I’ve seen both them and Abbeville live.
Gray has the more talented players
Abbeville has the depth .

Certainly do! Creekwater Slim can't wait for tomorrow night!
Just to clarify I don't think Saluda should be #1. We've had our highs and lows, and based on record/common opponents, you can't really rank them higher than 4th.
If you follow some of my previous posts though, you'll see that I think there is a big gap between A-town/Gray/Saluda, and the rest of 2A. Silver bluff looking strong this year but don't know much about em, and not including them in this until I see how they do tomorrow. A/G/S been at it for years though.
My main point, I guess, is that year in and year out I see Marion/Barnwell/Timberland/Silver Bluff ranked above Saluda knowing that none of those programs could hold a candle to ours. Sorry if that's rude but that's just facts. You can ask Abbeville and they'll tell you, the state championship is always played a week before the state championship. And it's played in the upstate. The winner of the A-Town, Saluda, Gray has and will continue to wreck teams in the lower state, and I don't see how the voters see it otherwise. The upperstate is almost always a 1-2 score ballgame, and tight throughout. The winner of the upperstate usually wins by 3,4+ scores and starters are out in the 4th quarter. I don't see why these lower state bums keep finding themselves at the top of the polls when you have serious contenders barely ranked in the top 10.
Doesn't really bug me, Ik this stuff doesn't matter. Just kills me that people vote the same way every year, and the same thing happens, every year. Reminds me of Notre Dame being ranked in the top 10 every preseason before being embarrased by a real program ranked below them. Don't you fellas learn? lol

Hey polls don’t matter really . Only playing that last game matters. Daniel goes down every week in the max preps and Massey ratings and all they do is win. Oh well. Someone will come on here after this post and say well you haven’t played great teams this year. That’s true but not from a lack of trying to schedule harder teams and other teams ducking.
So yea we’ve won 17 straight
24 straight regular season
39 of the last 42
Haven’t lost a road game since 2018
3rd most wins in this state since 1990
Beat the 2 of the last 3 4A champs and the last 2 3a champs in the last three years and yet we have to prove ourselves.
So yea I understand

Won't claim to know too much about 3A but I was kinda thinking the same way myself. Totally feel your pain big guy, but you're right. All that matters is who makes it the furthest!Ddub14 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 4:52 pmHey polls don’t matter really . Only playing that last game matters. Whatcha thinking bout Wren tonight? I heard they've been playing better ball as of late. Good luck to you guys!
Re: SC Prep Media Football Polls
Yes their playing better but playing worse teams will do that.
Everyone looks at the Seneca score last week and compares it to our score. One big difference though is Seneca lost their Qb the week of practice prior to the wren game(out for season) . Little different playing with a backup that may not have as many reps and experience. And honestly the game we had with Seneca was about 2-3 plays from getting out of hand again. Refs didn’t help matters much either . 14 penalties for 120 yards .
I like us to win by two scores or more but who knows it’s still a rivalry.

Re: SC Prep Media Football Polls
Byrnes in the mid 2000's was the same way and I'm sure Dorman experienced this for years and the Injuns of Gaffney know how this works as well. As long there is open scheduling for non-Region games, there will be teams facing the same issues.... especially since nothing matters about those games. Let's face it, if Riverside's season has shown us anything, scheduling weak teams is fine! Look at the polls, they are still getting votes after a very weak Byrnes team beat them 70-0 last week. But that 6-0 start is still impressing some folks.
I think that a point system that builds structure to the non-region games and make them count would encourage teams to find those games that would help them come playoff time. Let's face it, if the playoff seeding wasn't based only on your region finish, you would have to give some thought to your schedule. I'd like a system that rewards both, and good region record and a good non-region record. Region Champions and Region Runner Up are automatic berths in the playoff with the rest of the bracket coming as At Large berths.
I think that would help Daniel and other teams who face those kinds of scheduling issues.
