MAY RIVER 24 BEAUFORT 21 FINAL 10/15/21

Post by BEAUFORTEAGLESFAN »

May River beat Beaufort 24-21 last night. It was a tough loss for My Eagles Football Team. I am so sad and in the dumps right now. I always take a Beaufort loss very hard. :(. Congrats to May River on the win. They are in the driver's seat now to win Region 7 4A.

Ok as for my take on this game. The turning point was when May River blocked Beaufort's punt right before the half and tied the game 14-14 at the half. Beaufort had a 14-0 lead after the first Quarter of action. Beaufort's Punter took way too long to kick the football. He needs to kick the ball faster. I told someone earlier this season that he takes too long to kick the ball and sure enough it came back to haunt us. If the Sharks didn't block that punt then Beaufort would have won that game.

I want to say also, that what is wrong with the Eagles Defense? Like I said all week everyone knew that May River is a running team and their best runner is their QB. But for some reason, Beaufort's Defense could not stop him from having a big night running the football. The Eagles have one of the best DL in the State but they could not get to the Sharks QB for much of the game. Beaufort has to get better at stopping the run and especially at stopping the Opposing Teams QB from running the football.

With all that being said, what is wrong with Beaufort's Offense? The Eagles Offense has only scored 37 points in the last 2 weeks. Beaufort's Offense started out this game fast with 2 TDS in the first quarter but then faltered the rest of the game besides scoring a late TD. The Eagles Offense started out the season great but has not played up to their potential the last month or so. I don't know what's going on with them but there is definitely something. Beaufort's good WR Zyrin Odom was completely shut out in this game. The Eagles will have to get him more involved with the Offense in Future Games.

I have faith in Beaufort that they will still have a great year this season. This Team is full of potential. But all of the players will have to gel together and cut out the mistakes. A team is supposed to get better as the season goes along. But for some reason, it isn't happening with My Eagles. I really hope that changes soon. I really hope that My Eagles have a great week at practice and will hopefully win these last 2 regular season games pretty handily. That way they will have great momentum going into the playoffs.

I want to say that I was so happy to see the Huge Crowd at the game. Beaufort High School is making some money this year. I am so glad about that. But I really wish that My Eagles could have won this game on Senior Night. This was the 1st Region Loss for Coach Lybrand in his 3rd year here at Beaufort.

I am down in the dumps after this loss. But I do think Beaufort will regroup and get a Big Win over Bluffton next week. Come on Eagles!!!! Let's Finish up the season strong!!!!

GO BEAUFORT EAGLES!!!!

I may be wrong but is it possible they put to much stock in them early season games. Maybe their goal was to beat them Georgia teams go undefeated win region and sail into the playoffs. Now they seem satisfied just finishing the season and having a home playoff game or two. Kids that young will give up and throw in the towel if allowed to. Somebody needs to (coach) get after them in practice. Playoffs is a new season.

The May River Sharks are for real.

Headlined by another incredible game from Garvin Douglas, the Sharks went into Beaufort and stunned the two-time defending Region 7-4A champs. Douglas and a dialed-in Shark offensive line dominated Beaufort’s standout defense, as the senior stud put together an unthinkable third-straight 200-yard rushing game. But the big surprise was Rodney Summers’ defense stymieing an explosive Eagle passing attack. Jaeon Allen and Darrion Perry excelled in pass coverage against Beaufort’s loaded tandem of wide receivers, and a hungry group of Sharks forced a big fumble late before stuffing Tyler Haley at midfield to snag first place in the region. I didn’t think Douglas could replicate Ahmad Green’s success, but the new phenom has done it, and he is making a case to be considered the Lowco’s most valuable offensive player. Sparked by a young defense that continues to deliver in the biggest moments, the Sharks are looking like a top-10 4A team and will be an incredibly tough out in the postseason.

I am trying to get over this loss. But it is hard to do. I still don't know how Beaufort gave up 200 yards rushing to a QB. Yes, May River's QB is a good athlete, but he shouldn't get 200 yards rushing against Beaufort's Defense. I really hope that the Eagles Defense tightens up and is able to control future opponents' QB from running the Football. That is Beaufort's Biggest Weakness right now.

Ok, I am going to try and forget about this loss now. :ugeek:. Hopefully, Beaufort's Football Team will forget about it too and concentrate on winning these last 2 regular-season games.
