Clinton 0-6 : What now ?

Post by The walking dead »

Clinton continues to cling to their outmoded offensive scheme , Their refusal to platoon which results in their best players wearing out and breaking down, and they will continue to lose until they come into the present and stop playing 1960's football.

Claiming that " it was good enough for Richardson in the 60's so it's good enough for the Red Devils now " means they will continue to fly a bi-plane crop duster while their opponents are piloting F-18's .

The only solution may be to go outside D-56 and hire someone who ISN'T part of the Red Devil club.

I feel sorry for the players, they just aren't prepared for the speed and skills their opponents bring with the pistol, wet coast offense, and pro style type of attacks they are faced with today. In a stand up slugging match I'll take the Clinton boys every day. But those type of games are few and far between.

It's time for a change.

I was discusing the Clinton situation with some guys this week, in reference to system, as it was close to what Woodruff ran during their heyday. From what I've seen...deep down...A LOT of Woodruff fans would rather revert back to a run the ball system, because "That's what put championships on the wall".
High schools and colleges have shifted to the spread type systems and have been somewhat succesful...in some cases really succesful.
Curious to what you guys think....Is Clinton's issue a system issue?..Are predominetly running oriented offenses destend to failure compared to the spread?

I think running the ball still works fine. We're still successful with it.
CENTRAL EAGLES...MAKE PLAYS NOT EXCUSES.

Silver Bluff has relied on the run this year and has been successful so far......they do have several pretty good running backs.....and a QB that can throw the ball if needed........if they can stay healthy....and if the defense can get better by the season's end......they may have a championship caliber team....

Hartsville ran their wing-T all the way to the 3A Championship last year. Goose Creek ran the ball to a 4A-II title the year before.

I tend to agree....no matter the system, its the execution that counts. A few players moving up to high school with above avarage talent can change a "dead" system into a powerhouse again.
