Daniel 41 Chester 20

The stakes are usually high when Daniel and Chester play and the stakes are as high as they can get for this one. Daniel has rolled through the season staying unbeaten and made a statement win against Clinton last week. Now they face a team that they beat last year on their way to the championship.

Chester had a sour start to their season. Covid issues and good competition had them sitting at 2-3. They went on to win 7 straight games to enter this week. They’ve been road warriors these last two weeks upsetting 2 #1 seeds. They had an incredible comeback to defeat Chapman and then ran all over a hobbled Powdersville team.

Both teams have super talented players on the field. But the question like last season is how can Chester stop the Lions defense. Last years game had a running clock and Chester had garbage time points to make the 62-30 game look not as bad as it was. If they have no answers for the offense then it’s over quick fast and in a hurry. Chester offense is centered around their crazy big and athletic QB. He can only do so much on offense if he can’t stop anything when he’s playing LB on defense.

Should be an interesting game, one thing to note is Chester did play Northwestern and Daniel runs the same offense that the Trojans. Will that help them? Maybe, but we’ll just have to find out Friday.

Any Predictions or other notes about the teams?

Chester looks worse to me on film than last year

They better have a better game plan than last year.

Maybe we don’t call off the dogs like we did last year with a running clocks

Last time I saw Chester was when Newberry played them 2 seasons ago in the playoffs. There OL was not very good. I think we had 10 sacks in the game and the QB Dunham was running for his life all night. We did just enough to win 14-7 that night.

Chester will be prepared and give maximum effort. But not sure they have the horses to keep up with Daniel. Plus not sure they’ve seen enough high level Air Raid to know how to stop Daniel.

Not going to a running clock would be a victory for Victor Floyd and the Cycs.

Hey Dub....work with some guys from "Clin'on" and one of them has a son that plays for the Red Devils...he went to the game. I warned him before that those boys from Six Mile are rough...kinfolk. They were jawin' a little. I saw them earlier today and introduced myself as a member of the Red Devil Booster Club and I was collecting donations to buy the Red Devils a football, because the Lions wouldn't let them play with theirs...haha.

Fear The Fox...Fixed On Six...for Jack #60 and Gage #4.

I think everyone knows that Chester has their work cut out for them but maybe they will show up and be ready to play and make a game of it. I’m just glad Chester is getting the opportunity to play in the upstate title game. Good luck to both teams! Go Cyclone’s!!

Those Chester boys have fought hard to get to this point and I give the players and coaches a ton of credit for going on the road the past two weeks and taking out 2 #1 seeds.

I’ll tip my hat to Chester. They came in with no one really giving them a chance and they fought hard. But I’m the end my Lions prevail 41-20. Rematch with Camden next Friday and I can’t wait.
