As I mentioned in another thread,

It will be interesting to see how the Football Brackets are set up for this realignment.

7 Regions, all have 5 teams except Region 3 {which has 6 teams} for a total of 36 teams.

So would 32 of 36 teams make the playoffs?

I still see nothing on the www.schsl.org to state if 5A Region 4 is Upper State or Lower State.

Here is a possible bracket set up of my own making,

this is not from the SCHSL:

that's a weak division..only 3-4 teams that could actually win it

What does Byrnes have this year? I have heard they have a ton coming back and should be loaded. You listen to the others they all poor mouth and you can't tell, but Byrnes from all accounts will be stout. They can score, but they have to fix that defense.

Dutch Fork should be in good shape, in spite of what their coaches say. Defense will be stout and have some marquee offensive players.

Just want to see how Byrnes turns out.

Based on what I saw last year Byrnes defense better be a heck of a lot better. I don’t see them in the top 2 in that region and depending on how Dorman adjusts to the new coaching they could be looking at the 4 spot there.

Byrnes will be a huge wildcard this season, they have been very active in the transfer portal this offseason.

With the crowd in that region, Byrnes better get that defense fixed. Some of the folks in Duncan have gotten a bit restless that Byrnes hasn't gotten back in the elite conversion like they used to be. Is it hot seat time for Shaw without a deep playoff run? Gaffney lost a lot, but always seems to have another batch of athletes that takes the place of graduates seamlessly. Dorman? The coaching choice was a bit of a surprise. Might take a while to get this figured out. Spartanburg is just getting better all the time. The person I feel sorry for is the new coach at BS. They are pretty much out of the playoffs by default before they take a snap. Guess the money must be a lot more than they pay at the beach. Can't think of too many tougher jobs in 5A

has not been too long ago that BS was pretty good. Think they have a good many more students than Spartanburg. Use to have some huge lineman, even a few D1's

being Spartanburg county, the players are there, just need the right coach, but agree that's one tough region

AA has had to deal with 7 regions the last 4 years. Region 4 will likely be designated as the "hybrid" region, meaning some of its playoff qualifiers will go to the upstate and some to the lower. This is how it has been in AA. Its amazing that the HSL can't figure out how to have 8 regions in each classification.

Yet another reason SC is too small for 5 classifications
