Dutch Fork vs Spartanburg

Spartanburg is coming home mad after a loss to Langston Hughes in Georgia. Dutch Fork may be coming down from a high after beating Hough in Charlotte. That's a bad combination for the Silver Foxes. DF defense played pretty well against a good Hough offense with 10 returning starters on it. They will have to continue a strong showing as Jeter and crew are a dangerous squad. Offensively, the Silver Foxes had too many turnovers, dropped balls and a missed field goal. Can't make those mistakes against Spartanburg. Make the "layups" as Coach Knotts but it. Saw some flashes from some of the receivers but they need to hang on to the ball when it comes their way. The QB had a careless fumble, but made some good throws and runs. This game is another road game against a top tier opponent. Non-Region schedule is rough this year. Hopefully TK will coach them up this week and have them ready.

Spartanburg actually lead 9-6 with a little over a minute to go until halftime. They kicked off and Langston Hughes ran the ball back to mid field. 3 plays later the Panthers were in the endzone. After halftime the second half basically started the same way the first half ended. Vikings kick off and the ball is returned to mid field, 3 plays later the Panthers are in the endzone. Spartanburg fumble on their 1st possession of the second half and the the Panthers scored right away. The score stayed at 28-9 midway through the 4th qtr when Hodge pulled his starting QB and put in a lot of reserves. The flood gates opened after that. I was told LH had 15 D1 players on their team. Luckily for the Vikings they get to come home and lick their wounds. I think the Viking vs Foxes should be a good game. The Vikings were able to get out of Ga without any major injuries. The did lose a starting LB in the 1st half with a foot sprain. Not sure if Dutch Fork loss anyone to the injury bug. Get there early and enjoy some good Ole SC Friday night lights!!

Say what you want about the Vikings, but they are starting off with one of, if not the stoutest schedules in the State!

They could be 0-2 Saturday morning {and I'm saying they will be} and yet they could still be one of the best teams in the state of SC. I personally think they start 0-2 and beat Broome in Week three and they lose again in Week Three and everyone looks at the 1-3 record and thinks "Spartanburg is down this season".

But they are still a good pick as the favorite for Region Champions in my mind!

08/26 Spartanburg-VS-Dutch Fork (LOSS)
09/02 Spartanburg-AT-Gettys Broome (BIG WIN)
09/09 Spartanburg-AT-Grayson (GA) (LOSS)

What should be two solid games, but wins at home
09/16 Spartanburg-VS-Riverside
09/23 Spartanburg-VS-Mauldin

Two games that COULD determine Region 2 5A with one at home and one on the road...
09/30 Spartanburg-VS-Byrnes
10/07 Spartanburg-AT-Gaffney

10/14 Spartanburg-BYE

A HUGE WIN
10/21 Spartanburg-VS-Boiling Springs

BIG RIVALRY GAME on the road...
10/28 Spartanburg-AT-Dorman

At this time, I'd say 6-4 could be a very likely finish and if they are 7-3 it would be a GREAT season with that schedule! If they get to 8-2 or 9-1, they should be building a statue for the Coach and naming the field after him!

No injuries I know of.... defense uses a lot of players. I counted 18 different players playing defense over the course of the game. Fresh legs. Defense is not very big, but they are fast, hit hard, gang tackle and are well-coached. Holding NW to 10 points was impressive to me during the Football City Jamboree game. Offense is ball control. Have some a couple of receivers they need to open up. Jarvis Green is a stud and the QB seems to do a good job managing the game. Just need to cut out the turnovers and receivers need to hang on to the ball and we will be ok.

Curious to see how this one goes. At this juncture a win would be a win....I'll take a 3-2 W...ha. Spartanburg is talented and mad. Going to be a tough, tough game.

Hope the Silver Foxes show up ready to play. Spartanburg is a talented team and have something to prove. TK better have them ready to go to handle the Vikings. We could use this "W".

Spartanburg definitely has the talent to beat Dutch Fork, but as we have seen so many times and even last week TK is the best when it comes to game planning and out scheming his opponents. Foxes by 14 tonight.

Jad a few burg fans say we are playing garbage teams.
We have a solid schedule also.
