WEEK 8 REWIND: South Florence staying focused during hot start

One of the things South Florence coach David Prince likes most about his football team is its focus and ability block out any added distractions that have come the Bruins’ way during their unbeaten start. < snip >
And while many fans and media, me included, are looking forward to the possibility of an unbeaten South Florence squad facing a potential unbeaten Stratford team on Nov. 1 at Memorial Stadium, Prince said the focus will solely be on its opponent, Conway, this week.

FLORENCE, S.C. — South Florence coach David Prince said his team had been developing some bad habits the past two weeks. None of those habits were on display Friday as the Bruins put together their most complete game of the season in a 59-0 win over Carolina Forest on homecoming at Memorial Stadium. < snip >
The Bruins were coming off a 28-21 win over Sumter – their closest game this season – but Friday’s game was never in doubt as they scored on their first eight possessions.

Comfortably ahead vs CF and SF still had first offense on the field in the 4th quarter airing it out and scoring. Why?

Re: South Florence staying focused during hot start
I didn't really see the 2nd half of the game, I was at the far-end of the stadium loading the trailers and feeding the band in the 3rd quarter. With the running clock the game was almost over by the time I attempted to head back up into the stands.movethesticks wrote:Comfortably ahead vs CF and SF still had first offense on the field in the 4th quarter airing it out and scoring. However, I noticed the same thing against Crestwood. I can't say they were "airing it out" but the starters were in there burning the clock with the running game for most of the 4th quarter. I have almost no contact with the football team and no insight into their reasoning or strategy, so I can't answer the question.
