What happened at Spring Valley

Post by Blister »

Heard they were down 27-0 to Ridge View in the 3rd, and then the game was supposedly called due to safety concerns. Anybody have any details.

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — Friday night football turns into fear during the Spring Valley High School football game Friday. According to crews we have at the game, as they were going in, hundreds of fans were running out and police were instructing those gathering to leave the area surrounding the field. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and students ABC Columbia News spoke with at the game a fight broke out behind the press box during the 3rd quarter of the game against Ridgeview High School. Deputies say there were reports that someone yelled “gun” during the melee, but authorities say no firearms were discovered, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

The above tells me all I need to know. I remember the day when that side of town was very attractive. Now it appears the thugs, and gangs, have taken over.

Don't mean to offend anyone but this generation of young people for the most part are product of their environments. Home structure and discipline is all but gone! Heck , I wouldn't be surprised if parents was encouraging this behavior! Reason why teacher shortages is at an all time high! No way you could pay me what you pay our educators to put up with this type of stuff!

Same thing with health care professionals, there are no nurses for hospital emergency rooms. It's not only juveniles, so called adults of today's society act the same way.

I was told that Pickens County schools are going to be having more officers at games to combat this with some new rules about people, specifically high school aged kids, congregating in the concourse at the stadiums.

It's bad that it even came to this, if you got nothing better to do on a Friday night other than starting problems at a high school football game then you have a sad life. The kids on the field bust their ass all summer and at practice all week for Friday night's, they don't deserve to have it taken away because people in the stadium want to act stupid.

You just identified a big part of the problem, these kids do have a sad life with little light at the end of the tunnel. And don't think that some of the players aren't gang members too, they certainly are.
