Beaufort got us

Post by nastycats1988 »

I have to come back and give credit. Beaufort just got us tonight. We simply lost to a better team

Very difficult to stop that offense, that #10 was dragging Dillon players. The margin of error was very small in this game, that controversial call after the Dillon player intercepts in the end zone which led to a safety was the turning point. Weird call for high school football games. It is what it is.

Agreed. The call on the interception in the end zone was a turning point in the game. Our DB must have come out of the end zone and then gone back in to make the option beneficial for Beaufort. If so, that makes sense. But #10 for Beaufort is a complete stud and was the difference in the game. Congrats to them. They beat us and at our own game on the ground. If we had kept it on the ground, may have been different. Verbal offers to “freshmen” don’t necessarily equal competence reading defenses and throwing the ball…but I’ll leave it at that. Shorts and t shirts is one thing…pads is another. It came down to who could run the ball the best and they did it better than us tonight. Great game and a hard one for our seniors. We will be back next year though and ready to go.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. We have been underestimated all year long. Our coaching staff made some midseason changes that made this team, as you said, nearly unstoppable on offense.

As for that play in the end zone, your DB intercepted and he returned it out to the 2 yard line. The Safety was the result of a holding penalty by another player on the return, and that penalty occurred in the end zone. It is exactly the same call as if an offensive player commits a penalty in your own end zone, like holding or intentional grounding.

Very rare call, never seen it happen before, but it was the correct call on that play.

Dillon is a very well coached and well disciplined team. I hated to see their season have to end. But, as you guys said, you will reload and be a factor in class 3A again next year.

Just saw the stats. The Eagles rushed for 410 yards in the game with zero passing yards. Colton Phares led the way with 163 yards and 1 touchdown. Kacy Fields (There goes that man, again!) had 159 yards and 3 second half touchdowns. Samari Bonds added 85 rushing yards.

I also saw where Dillon had not lost a home game since 2011. This was a very special game between 2 very special teams. We are honored to be the team to end the streak, but we understand how painful that had to be for the Seniors on the Dillon squad. I wish that I could shake their hands and pat their backs. Dillon is a very special place to watch a football game. Great work on all of the preparations and what an electric atmosphere. Loved being at a game where one side or the other was roaring over every play. Well done!

Best smelling stadium I've been in!

The atmosphere at the end was so great. All the fans and all the players were congratulating and consoling each other and meeting some of the Eagle players was great. They raise them right down there. Just as polite and classy every one them....just as nice a gentlemanly as BEF himself. A VERY humble group of athletes for what they'd just accomplished. I think these Eagles have the Louisiana voodoo-charm, the mojo hand, the winning boy's magic.

Super classy posts all around about this game, especially from the Wildcat fans. I hope we can all make it to Colombia and maybe have a nice tailgate. I can bring my secret seasoning for any meats. Maybe Newcat can bring that grill that's hotter than the surface of the sun. I'll eat an oyster in memory of Chuck.

Here's one for you BEF...
