A fresh start: Ninety Six football begins Bennett's service plan
By Cody Estremera - The Index-Journal
“That’s our best kids, the best representation of who we are as a community, and we want them to be the best foot forward and represent this community with pride.”
....he’s had roughly three weeks with the Wildcats and has been striving to build that community pride since then.
This week, he had a chance to put that plan into motion as 15 players and six Wildcat coaches took to Wilson Campbell Stadium for three hours Thursday morning, scraping old paint and priming the railing along the home side of the stadium.

I like it too. Check the boxes: Comradery, work ethic, community service, school/community pride.

Oh geez 96antic . You don’t think all coaches say stuff like that when they come in .Do you really expecting him to come in and say we are going to be out of control and only win two games .

This isn't about what the new coach is saying. We have over 200 schools in the SCHSL. How many of them have their players showing up to do community services projects?

It's called "Team Building" and it is the absolute best way to teach young men how to depend on each other to get thing accomplished. Bravo to everyone involved. The results we be much farther reaching than just a fresh coat of paint.

Unfortunately for the Lakelands, the IJ is a horrendous news source. The sports section is about as bad as it gets. Putting a paywall on “articles” with less than 200 words is criminal.
This is a nice article though and I’m unsure how anyone can see this as anything but a positive for 96.
