Well, I made the 2 hr trip to Bluffton last night. We had a caravan of three vehicles which included Svillefan34 and his son(Gary), and The Twins(Pat and Mike), and my vehicle with my buddy Cecil and my parents. Lumpster along with our kicker's parents, David and Kelly, were just a few minutes behind us, with Wave80 beating all of us to the field. Following the recommendation by NewCat we ate at Captain Woodys which was awesome! Thanks Matt.

Concerning the game, Bluffton jumped on us pretty quick taking the opening kickoff and driving the length of the field with alot of misdirection. The second score was set up by an excellent punt return to our 1 yard line. Because our kicker is as good as he is, I think our special teams players are always expecting the ball to be kicked into the endzone on kickoffs or punted out of bounds at the 1 yard line. When that does not happen, look out.

After the 14-0 deficit however, Summerville went on a 38-7 run with Bluffton scoring a couple of late tds for the final margin. It looked like we may have lost one of our speedier RBs(22 Ford) to a leg injury last night which will hurt. Hopefully it was just precautionary and he will make a quick recovery. We mixed in the pass at times last night and FINALLY in the second half decided to go to our 6'6" TE a couple of times. I just do not understand why we do not go to him more. I do not believe he dropped a pass that was thrown his way last night. And when the ball is thrown his way, Smith is tough to bring down. Maybe we are just trying to keep the North-South player under the radar and will start going to him more in the playoffs .

Defensively we struggled early, then settled in only to give up a few late scores. We will have to play better next week because we know Ashley Ridge will be looking to pull the upset.

It was great to see NewCat and DeCav before the game and at the half. DeCav received the sideline experience thanks to NewCat. One moment I missed but heard about was DeCav performing a chest bump with one of our players as they were coming off the field with DeCav bouncing off and onto the ground like two magnets being repelled with matching poles . Hopefully DeCav and his buddys made it safely back to the upstate last night....

Hey Mike! Great read on the game. Spot on with what I saw from my vantage point. Really kinda strange to be on the sidelines at a game and it be with Summerville. The chest bump wasn't with a Summerville player though. Newcat gave us the rundown on rules and the big one was not to interact with players or coaches so we made sure to give them a wide berth as we moved up and down the sideline all night following the action. The plan was to be discreet, especially with me and Chuck wearing our Dorman shirts!

The chest bump was Newcat's buddy on the chain gang. Matt told me about how the two of them had done a chest bump the week before and he'd gotten knocked on his butt so when I saw them doin that Friday night, I ran up to him to get a bump myself. Now he did cheat a little by bringing up his hands and giving me a shove, but yeah...down I went on my back.

It was something else when Bluffton went up 14-0. I was nervous for you guys because their first drive was mostly on the ground and it looked like they were slashing you guys. Then on their 3rd possession they got a little cute and started mixing in more passes. I guess the coaches saw they wouldn't be able to lean on the run and I'm sure the Wave D made some adjustments that probably forced them into some passing situations. I'd like to know what you think. Should the Bobcats have stayed the course with the running game?

The passing game would have gotten the job done except that Bluffton players were dropping a lot of balls Friday night. Anyway Summerville played like they have been there before and looked stout and efficient. The defense did their job forcing Bluffton to punt most of the time after their first two possessions. Your TE is a beast! I like the idea of going away from him early in the game and then bringing him in the mix later. Your kicker looked good also.

You could kinda tell by the end of the 3rd that Bluffton just didn't act like they believed they could win. I just didn't feel like there was a big comeback in them. They still played well Friday and they'll be better next year but it was a convincing win by the Greenwave. I will definitely be pulling for SV this post season!

I wish I'd gotten a pic with Mckissick. I didn't wanna push it though. Me, Chuck, Dj, and Matt went to IHOP after the game and had a great meal. Got to meet coach Cribb there! Also met the Bluffton AD. They seemed genuinely pleased that a group of Dorman fans drove all the way down to watch the Bobcats and Greenwave play.

It is always great to see you Mike! You're one of the best fans I've ever met and also one of the coolest guys. Also great to see SVF34 and the rest of the folks. Tryin to talk to you guys before kickoff with that fence and tarp between us was funny as Hell. I guess you got Chuck's joke when we started trying to reenact the scene from Red Dawn. Great times! My only regret was that I forgot to bring my camera. I'll have to get Matt to send me those pics.

Bluffton had success on their first drive with all the misdirection but Summerville settled in and began making some stops which is what I believe led to more passing. Bluffton ran the slant across the middle of the field on several plays and also had some early success. Pressure on the QB frequently caused the Bluffton QB to hurry his passes which resulted in the Bobcats having to start punting after the hot start to the game. Summerville went to 3 down linemen in the 2nd half which was a little puzzling because the pressure seemed to be working for us. Much more coaching experience exists on the Summerville sidelines than up in my head . In the end though, it all worked out.

My least favorite, and most gut wrenching defense is the "prevent" defense. Too often, it seems that once the regular/normal defense is changed, the play of the kids changes.

I tend to fall in that category of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and "if it is working, why change it".

I agree 78. A prevent defense lost Summerville a state championship. Big lead at the half and decide to try to run the clock out the entire second half and get into a prevent D. It was like watching a train wreck. Oh how I hate them Indians .
