Way Too Early Predictions

Post by stretch »

Before the players put on full pads and we see scrimmages I think it’s time we give way too early predictions. I’m gonna do all 5 classifications, despite not being knowledgeable about all of them.

5A
Upperstate: Dutch Fork
Lowerstate: Sumter
Champs: Dutch Fork

I don’t think it matters who makes it from the upperstate I think they will reign supreme. Dutch Fork is the team to beat. Some teams I think have a shot to make it are all the Region 2 teams except Boiling Springs, Fort D and Summerville too.

4A
Upperstate: Northwestern
Lowerstate: South Florence
Champs: Northwestern

Don’t think it’ll be the same result as last years title game. Northwestern is out to finish the job this time around. I don’t think there will be a more motivated team than Coach Wofford’s Trojans. Other teams are West Florence, South Pointe, and Greenville.

3A
Upperstate: Daniel
Lowerstate: Dillon
Champs: Daniel

You’d be crazy to think I’d pick anyone else. My Lions lost a lot but we still have a good group returning that has experienced on both sides. This is the first year since 2018 that we aren’t the favorites coming into the season, Coach Fru will use that as motivation for this team. Dillon has been down for too long. I think they will be the team to beat in the lower state in my opinion. It’ll be a great game between the Lions and Wildcats and I’ll always be on the side of the Lions. 3A will be one of the most competitive in the state. Beaufort as the reigning champs will be a team to watch along with Powdersville, Clinton, Gilbert and Camden. Crestwood is my long shot pick.

2A
Upperstate: Abbeville
Lowerstate: Woodland
Champs: Abbeville

I’m against picking the private/charter schools so I’m rolling with these two to make it. Abbeville is always the team to go through in the upperstate and I think the train isn’t stopping this year. Now in the lower state it will be a tough battle in Region 6 and I think Woodland will be the team to hopefully make it through. Saluda, Strom Thurmond, Barnwell and Andrew Jackson are the team I think will be threats to make it past those two teams, not including Gray and Oceanside who will be two of the toughest teams to beat.

1A
Upperstate: St. Joseph’s
Lowerstate: Bamberg-Ehrhardt
Champs: Bamberg-Ehrhardt

Unfortunately for upperstate 1A it’ll come down to one of the Greenville Christian schools and I will say St. Joes will be the one to outlast the rest. For the Lowerstate team to play I will go with Bamberg-Ehrhardt to finally break through and win in Orangeburg. Some other teams besides the Greenville Christian teams, Johnsonville and Lamar.
Go Daniel Lions!!

3A has a bunch of teams that can make it to the title game. What all do y’all bring back other than the QB?

In 2022 the #1 seed from Region 4 was DF and they were seeded in the upper bracket. I believe they alternate each year so the #1 seed from Region 4 would be in the lower state bracket this year.

Is it every year or every two years ?
