I'm hoping over the next couple of games we can have 2 good weeks of practice and film watching and come out and play good fundamental football. The coaches need to stay alot later at night and watch film from the South Pointe scrimmage up to the loss against Spartanburg Friday. They need to see what plays are working and what's not. The kids are taking a pounding mentally from everyone, but others should be held accountable also.
They are over working Jaylan Foster. Either you put him on defense or receiver.... He's on the field way to much he needs a rest. Offense, Defense and Special Teams can he do it absolutely, but he shouldn't have to.
I couldn't be more proud of our Defense. Work on just a few minor things. Offensive we have some work to do.... FundaFreaknmentals. Bobby Bentley prided himself as being the best passing team in the nation. Bobby isn't here anymore nor is Miller some of their players are very very few. Our strength right now is running the ball... Run it Run it Run it. If you establish the running game the passing will work itself back into the fold I promise.
I've heard so much about how bad the Offensive Line is because of the sacks. You can only block a defense for so long.. if you don't believe me watch film over and over. We have got to get rid of the ball. ALOT of sacks given up are COVERAGE sacks those come from your Running Backs and Receivers. Everyone seems to think the Offensive line is the only ones supposed to block,, Wrong! Now getting to the O Line we have some youngsters that can play I know this and I've witnessed it. If one of those starters are stinking it up yank his ass. It happened against Gaffney and worked.
People think the season is over because of the Spartanburg loss.. Well its not. Spartanburg had alot of calls that went their way that could have very changed that ballgame in its entirety, but it didn't and I'm kinda happy it went that way. I'd rather lose right now and look and see what we are doing wrong than something like the Dorman game or a playoff game with our thumb up our asses and the season be over. There is plenty and I do mean plenty of time to get this Horse back running the way it should and can. REBEL NATION!!

I know you don't want to hear it, but I still don't think Lane can get the job done. He did miserably against my Eagles while at Woodruff. He never seemed to have his players ready. Woodruff deserved better and Byrnes deserves better.

Re: Rebels Rebound
You may be right about Lane, but maybe he can develop himself and his team as well as his assistants.
Bobby's first couple of years were very tough sledding, but Brian inherited a lot better situation than Bobby inherited. Brian can prove a lot in the remainder of this season, good or bad. If this team runs the table, folks will forget about the way they played at Boiling Springs as well as the loss to the Vikings. If they lose another game and then loose in week one or two of the playoffs, the rumblings will grow louder.
I am not liking the lack of discipline, on and off the field...

Re: Rebels Rebound
I hope everyone can right these wrongs. I want to finally see the oldest win a ring. I love the Rebs, but I think the middle boy wants to go somewhere he can go back to his original positions RB/FB and LB.

Re: Rebels Rebound
I don't see why anyone would kick the Rebs to the curb after Friday night. They played a good game against the #1 team in the state, a team they will not have to face again. I think they will be fine.

I'd like to see the Rebs vs Vikings in good weather. I don't like EHS predictions for the playoffs. I DO NOT want to see NW again. The Rebels are pulling for the Cavs this week brother. Please shut those guys up... I would hope a Dorman fan would go name for name over there.

Re: Rebels Rebound
I agree with Cavaliereagle , Lane made some really bad calls especially the fake punt and the going for it on 4th down on your on 30 against a team like SHS . I also agree with 74 also ....Bentley had some horrible seasons in the beginning of his career but Bentley did not have the program Byrnes has now so , I think the fans , school and administration are not gonna be as lenient now as they were back then .......you have to get it done nowadays if you are a top program like Byrnes is now . When you win like Byrnes has the past 12 to 13 years everybody expects results , I guess you would say it's the nature of the beast for being a top program in SC now .JMO

Re: Rebels Rebound
I think another big thing is some others have caught up with Byrnes too. Byrnes pioneered alot of conditioning that others picked up on. I believe it may now be a little more level playing field. I believe Byrnes has done some good things for high school football. I believe pretty much the same thing has happened with my Eagles too. Back in the late 70's, we were one of the few if not the only ones running the same plays in our Rec league. Now, it's the norm. Anyways, Best wishes to the Rebels. Congrats to the Vikings. I had no dog in the fight. I see no reason for any head hanging. Someone has to lose. The Burg was due.

Re: Rebels Rebound
Absolutely they were due. I mean they have a heck of a ball team and who can go wrong with Chris Miller. Byrnes lost this game purely on mistakes and left alot of points on the field. The kids weren't ready to play and they have been honest and said that. They said missing that Thursday practice hurt. Their mind wasn't programed to play Thursday night. You're in the middle of a test and someone says go home and grab your gear your playing the biggest game of the year in 3 hours. Spartanburg came ready to play, but I would have liked to have seen that game in good weather conditions. There is alot of football left to be played and their new season starts at practice Sunday afternoon at 2pm. I am very happy for Coach Miller and Coach Scott and Austin for coming in and do what people said couldn't happen and that was to beat Byrnes. Well they did and like I said I'm happy for them. Byrnes will get it done this year... I have faith.

#1 - Not kicking them to the curb - Just pointing out things I've seen all season and last season...DeCav wrote:I don't see why anyone would kick the Rebs to the curb after Friday night. #2 - "a team they will not have to face again." may not be an accurate statement. With the way things are shaping up in some regions, Spartanburg could be Division one or two this year.... it is close depending on who you give the automatic bids to.
