They play-calling is what it is. Its the lack of execution that is causing issues. Both teams had ops to keep drives going. Did you hear the referee state that he blew the whistle early as SHS was going across to score on the 4th & goal? Well he did admit it. That's the only reason the score wasn't 24-7. Byrnes' O didn't make SHS D look more impressive. SHS D showed what kind of O Byrnes really has, inferior. Byrnes passing attack has been lacking all year because that is who they are. Byrnes does not have what they have had in recent years. I am not arguing wet/dry field because both teams were on the same field. If it slowed down one team, it slowed down the other equally. Byrnes was out-gunned in all phases of the game. That is why they lost.1st&Goal wrote:Byrnes O did not play well( and have struggled at time all season). I was also not really impressed with play calling for Byrnes. Byrnes had some ops to keep the drives alive but shot themselves in the foot with sloppy play or penalties. I feel that Byrnes O play made SHS D look more impressive than what they really are. Byrnes passing attack has been somewhat lacking all year. And all the dry field wet field stuff....Last I seen of the game they were both playing on a wet field. It equals itself out for both sides. So....That arguement really carries no weight IMO.COUNTY 42 wrote:This is a good football debate. I am not attacking you. I am just pointing out the holes in your opinion. That is what a debate is. Byrnes' D is not better than Spartanburg's. If it was, it would not have given up 127 rushing yards to Feaster. Did the Viking D give up 100 yards on that muddy field? If Byrnes' D was better, they would have accumulated 12 sacks.1st&Goal wrote:COUNTY 42 wrote:You can not be that delusional!!!! Most every other Byrnes supporter acknowledged that the Vikings are better. Now Byrnes has a discipline problem? The o-line is getting bashed because of the qb? Byrnes' O-line was way over matched. If the field was dry, it could have been 20 sacks. Byrnes posters have said that there were no open receivers all night but you want the QB to trust his receivers to make a play? Personal foals have killed so many drives? If the Rebels are truly that undisciplined, there is no way that they can be the better team!!!! JMO1st&Goal wrote:Lets be real honest hear. The Rebel team seems to have a disipline problem. The practices dont even seem to be as rough as they used to be. I also feel that the oline is getting bashed by fans incorrectly due to the QB holding the ball to long. He can not run around in the back field dancing and then take a sack. If you dont have an open receiver...throw the ball away. At some point the QB needs to start trusting his play makers to go up and get the ball. Personal foul penalties have killed so many drives this year.....Im at a loss for words about it. JMO.![]()
As for the vikings. They are riding the benefits of a good running back and a QB that eats dinner wih the OC(Byrnes had that benefit for years). They also have a pretty good D. I dont feel they are as good as Byrnes D. But..They are good. Bottom line...Byrnes lost that game due to poor Off. execution. Again....JMO.
I still feel as though Byrnes has a good shot down the stretch. I just hope lanes woes of losses in the play offs dont follow him this season.
I never said that the viking were not the better team as a combined unit. I said I dont feel they have a better D than Byrnes. Before you go off hack cocked and blow a gasket...Just remember that the Byrnes D held your beloved team to 17 points. And if I say I am not happy with Byrnes O...Then that is my opinion. If you want to make attacks towards my posts..Then I suggest we take it to PFT where all the stupid antics have taken over. This site only looks for good football debates. NOT what you seem to have posted here. Thank you and have a good day.
From what I understand the Mods here would have said something to me if they felt that I said something offensive. They haven't so calm down, don't blow a gasket, and lets have a debate.
What about the call when Byrnes clearly crossed the goal line and refs called it a fumble. Once the ball breaks into the endzone it is a TD. Making the score 17-14 with plenty of time left for a possible onside kick. So..Your argument of the ref making a bad call could be argued for Byrnes as well. Your thinking of phases of the game are blinded by your passion for the vikings. Go back and look at film. Byrnes D exposed SHS O as not to be as powerful as some would think. And I will agree that SHS has a good enough D to expose some of the issues Byrnes O has. Though I know this debate is pointleess, as I have yet to see (well maybe one) any Viking poster ever want to give Byrnes any credit.
