Low Country Football
Hey I'm trying to get some 411 on the Low Country teams. Who is the Top Dogs at this point in the Low Country for The Big 16 we should be looking out for up here. Throw in Division 2 teams that are gonna make some noise. And BTW please No Punting Doe from Slickers Corner.

Re: Low Country Football
The top dog in these parts is Fort Dorchester. I would be surprised to not see them playing in Columbia in December. Ashley Ridge is undefeated and was going to get tested by Goose Creek this week but their game was cancelled due to the weather event we have all endured the last couple of days. Other than those two in 4A ball no one else is really jumping out that I can think of. The normal top teams in the area such as Goose Creek, Stratford and Summerville are all having down years. All three of these teams also have recently new head coaches coincidentally. We really have a lot of mediocre teams in the area other than the two standouts I have mentioned.

No real contenders.ashley ridge and fort as gbg said.I don't believe either has the defense to go all they way.
Re: Low Country Football
Don't kid yourself. Fort D definitely had the defense to win. Their shortcoming is coaching. They are the biggest, physical, and most talented in the area. You put a good coaching staff over there and they bury everyone they come in contact with.Wavefan70s wrote:No real contenders.ashley ridge and fort as gbg said.I don't believe either has the defense to go all they way.
P.s. If they don't have a defense, how do you explain them shutting out a Wando team that hung 64 on Summerville??
Re: Low Country Football
Thanks don. Fort's defense is much better now. Once we got our two safeties back it made a big difference. Those guys make sure everyone was in the right spots and communicate which was lacking early on. We have an expect to win attitude. All team all family approach. Coaching has been a little better, as far as making in game adjustments

Wando repeatedly shot there self in the foot with turnovers.no way am I implying wandocoukd have won.bit they could a scored a couple. Our d ain't a guage on anyone.almost any team that is quick or can throw should score on us.freaking Berkeley got 35 points on us.Don316625 wrote:Don't kid yourself. I believe they are the best two teams around here.
That being said I think most of the football around here is extreamly bad this year. My 12 year old is as big as some of our db.work calls post more later.
Re: Low Country Football
On paper Ft. Dorchester is the team to beat...With that said that is why the game isn't played on paper. Ft. Looks to be the team to play past thanksgiving. Ashley Ridge is like a box of chocolate on defense you don't know what you are going to get each series, Offense is young for the most part they do have talent and this year AR has a running game to go along with the pass. Summerville well until Ashley Ridge can beat them they are the team to beat, Again on paper you would think Ashley Ridge may have the edge but again that is why you don't play the game on paper. See last year result for example (First half AR wins Final Score AR blown out by 30)
As for Goose Creek, Would have liked to see that game played. Hearing a log of rumors on why it wasn't played on Thursday. Truth lays somewhere in the middle. I think in Region 7 that is wide open, could be Cane Bay, Goose Creek and possible West Ashley or Stratford (Think Stratford would need a few things to fall their way). Watched Summerville shut down Goose creek and then lose the next two, Seen Cane Bay and West Ashley against AR and they are decent teams that can win on any given night.
My two cent goes with Ft as the team to beat, but then again you never know maybe there is a surprise team that wins it all

Re: Low Country Football
Remember we had 22 penalties to 5 at wando.4 or 5 of their drives stall until penalties saved the drive.penalties literally took them from the 45 to the 10 on more than one drive.we didn't stop them either but .they had no help at fort.I watched that game on TV .it was the same crew and some of the same plays were no calls .must be payback for all the call we used to get.we got hosed on penalties at wando with out those 17 -28points come off.Wavefan70s wrote:Wando repeatedly shot there self in the foot with turnovers.no way am I implying wandocoukd have won.bit they could a scored a couple. Next goose creek had 3 to 5 starters suspended depending on who you talk to.if played again I believe creek wins.
Ashley ridge I have not seen play.
