2000 Fort vs Summerville. My junior year and Fort finally got its first football win over Summerville winning 12-7 and the crowd was just over 10,000 I think. I remember no one leaving their parking space at the school, sitting in the bleachers just to have a spot at 4:00pm, and having no voice by the 2nd quarter...lol. I remember running onto the field afterwards and tearing both goalposts down and Coach Bagwell was getting swarmed by everyone and cheering with the fans, football players, and cheerleaders. That Monday we had a huge pep rally and they brought in the goalposts, showed all the highlights from the game footage to the news footage and each time the crowd erupted as if we we're seeing it for the first time.
Of course the next year was even sweeter because we beat them again except this time it was at Summerville. I was a senior then and I remember at the pep rally we were told to tear down the goalposts if we won and I guess it got out because once it became known we were going to win, guard dogs showed up so no one could tear them down. So we went to the S and tore up some of the grass...lol.
Up until last year it was kind of nice knowing I was one of the few classes that didn't have a losing record against Summerville...lol.

Re: Let's Talk Football
Summerville had a WR/special teams player a few years back who will remain nameless that did something that made many of us smile who know the story. Prior to the game he was having a conversation with one of our assistant coaches who told him it would be bad luck to return the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Several fictional examples were created to back up the story to the young man. Well on the opening kickoff the ball is kicked straight to him. He takes off and with great blocking is running up the near sideline. The kid was so fast the pursuit basically stopped as he was 10 yards behind everyone and it was clear no one was going to catch him. We are all celebrating in the stands only to see the ball marked at the 1 yard line. You guessed it, he intentionally ran out of bounds at the 1 yard line due to the conversation he had with the coach prior to the game. Now, at the time it happened I was puzzled because I did not hear the story until a few days later. Needless to say the coach and the player had a little conversation to make sure he was clear on what to do the next time in case he ever had to make the same decision as to what to do when nearing the goal line on an opening kickoffracincowboy02 wrote:I know I have posters here from all over let's talk about some of the weirdest endings, funniest things you've seen, and the most unbelievable things you've seen

Mid to late 80's Spring Valley was at Summerville for a second round playoff game.
Spring Valley had the ball at their own 5 yard line winning 12 -7 with 5 seconds left in the game.
Summerville was out of time outs and it was 3rd down. All Spring Valley had to do was take a knee.
Instead Spring valley called a time out. All the wave fans were heading for the exits.and the next play after the time out
The Spring Valley QB Took the snap and rolled to his right and when the wave DB got to the QB, the Spring valley QB tried to hurdle the Wave DB and in the process the ball went up in the air and a wave player caught the ball and walked in the end zone for the T.D.
The time had run off the clock and The wave won 13 -12.and advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Bluffton vs Hartsville 2010 state 3-A semi...Kelley town Stadium...Hartsville SC...Hartsville scores with 52 seconds left for a 35-33 lead...after Bluffton fumbles kickoff...but recovers at own 27.racincowboy02 wrote:I know I have posters here from all over let's talk about some of the weirdest endings, funniest things you've seen, and the most unbelievable things you've seen
First down...incomplete...2nd down pass to Soph. WR Marquis Webber for 50 yrd gain...Flag!!!! Like 5 seconds after completion....illegal formation...WHATEVER!!!

..Bluffton wins 40-35...then we got hammered by Golsen and MB defense.

I love threads like this man this is the cool side getting everybody's stories like this
I got another one for you the 1993 state championship game Gaffney vs Northwestern at Death Valley. It was raining and cold it was a defensive battle mid way through the first quarter we are down deep in Northwestern territory and we have to punt snap goes over the punters head and into the endzone and the punter kicks the ball out of the endzone for a safety. The game goes back and forth nobody can do anything on offense at all we get the ball back with less than a minute to go in the game and are driving and the we get the ball to midfield and the drive stalls we go for it on 4th down and don't get it and we loose 2-0. You talking about a bad taste in your mouth that game killed it. I hope somebody a little older than I am can give a better description as I was only 11 or so when that game was being played
