Summerville 16 - Colleton County 14 FINAL!

Post by GoBigGreen »

Finally, Summerville gets back in the win column. Congrats to the Cougars on a hard fought game. Colleton County had more fan support than I have seen in my previous visits to Walterboro. Summerville used a 2 headed attack with both #2 Bennett and #4 Taylor at QB. There really did not seem to be a pattern to when one or the other would play which I guess kept the Cougars guessing. Heck it kept me guessing as well. Taylor is clearly the better passer while Bennett is very quick and able to pick up yards on the ground. But we would have Bennett in on 3rd and longs and Taylor in on short yardage plays which seemed backwards to me. But you know what, we picked up the win so kudos to the coaching staff and players for hanging in there. We sputtered on offense but defensively had one of our better games of the season. We had pressure on the CC qb all night long. I know we had to have in the neighborhood of 8 sacs on the game. The Cougar offense also helped us out with many dropped passes. With the same performance next week against Ashley Ridge we will likely get blown out because they have the receivers and QB to put some points on the board. In the end this was a must win for Summerville. With one more win over Bluffton we slip into the playoffs  as a likely 16 seed. However, if we can somehow pull out the win against AR this coming Friday, we could lock up 2nd place in the region and a home game . Yes, that would be a shake your head moment for a 5-6 team to get a home game in the 1st round of the playoffs. We don't make the rules but could certainly benefit from them here late in the season with just a couple of region wins. Really looking forward to the AR game Friday. With AR off tonight many of their players were on hand to check out their next opponent.

The wave defense played hard and won the ball game.
The wave offense just struggled all night and looked lost most of the night.
It is just puzzling to me that we have a receivers coach that was the offensive coordinator on 2 national championship teams at St.Thomas Aquinas and we don't let him call the plays ?
But we won a ball game.

I got stuck at work listened to the radio some.we had a pick six I think.so we managed 9 points on 0.9 points?we must have got a safety or a fg and a miss pa?
If that's the case we got 7 on offense.
Wave 80 is right on.maybe we go to cut a coach a week
Concept.....

I had something come up and wasn't able to make the game. After hearing the coaching change I had high hopes for the offense this week, but it semi like we didn't have the performance I was hoping for. That being said we did get a win that we had to have! Another week for #4 taylor to get his timing back and get a game plan together and you never know what can happen.

One thing to note is #3 and #9 did not play. They were both in street cloths. Not sure if it was injury related or something else.
