How in the ENTIRE HADES... do you sit there all season and not develop Tyshun Sarratt as Bryson Ward's backup??... he didn't even have to play the entire JV game Thursday, I would have let him only play halves all season just in case... I thought about this all season, i thought surely if Bryson went down they'd to go Tyshun at least for a half... these frikkin .... ok, I'm going to quit before I say something bad. They are going to blame it on the 4 quarter rule, HELLOOO.... that means he shouldn't play the whole game on thursday!

Yeah I was at the JV game and thought the Gaffney QB looked really good and was obviously the best player on the feild. They beat our JV 35-0 and was up 21-0 at half.. Not sure why the Gaffney coaching staff felt the need to bring him down for that game, everyone in the stands knew Gaffney was the better JV team.

It's not just about playing for 1/2 of a JV game. The way the SCHSL interprets the 8 qtr rule is that it counts IF YOU ARE DRESSED in a uniform. So if JV QB plays 1st half of JV game and then just watches 2nd half on sideline in uniform, SCHSL states that this counts as 4 quarters. Ridiculous, I know. There have been countless teams who have broke the 8 qtr rule all season...no one is there to police it, and some coaches just continue to push the envelope....

Yeah, man, I have no explanation other than... "We're just giving up on this season, trying to get ready for next season" ... surely they aren't cocky enough to think they'll automatically be around to coach next year.Trojangrad10 wrote:Yeah I was at the JV game and thought the Gaffney QB looked really good and was obviously the best player on the feild. The posters below are right, its defined as "dressing" for a game. If he dresses, it is the same as playing. If he doesn't play, doesn't matter. Due to the STUPID rule, the only way to develop him is play JV. As for moving him up for the NW game, as crazy as it sounds that could actually hurt him more than help him. Say he comes into the NW game and because he rarely takes snaps with those guys, he gets lit up and then is shellshocked moving forward. I think, given the new rule, the best way to develop him is playing JV.STChamp 92 wrote:How in the ENTIRE HADES... do you sit there all season and not develop Tyshun Sarratt as Bryson Ward's backup??... he didn't even have to play the entire JV game Thursday, I would have let him only play halves all season just in case... Now, the question is why in the heck didn't Gaffney have ANYONE behind Ward to take snaps. That is the bigger question that needs to be answered. But to be honest, Jones probably figured it didn't matter that much. While Gaffney was a different team with Ward in the game, I think the outcome would have been the same. May not have been as one sided, but NW is still the better team. The good news is going forward the JV QB will be able to back-up for as far as Gaffney goes in the playoffs. That bad news is the road is an uphill battle.
