#16 Summerville at #1 Dutch Fork POLL

Post by GoBigGreen »

After starting the season 0-2 Dutch Fork has gone on to win 8 of their last 9 games. Summerville on the other hand has struggled to their 3rd losing season in the last 64 years finishing the regular season at 4-7. Their 2-2 finish in region play placed Summerville at 2-2 and locked up a 3rd place finish in Region VIII. Summerville and DF did have one common opponent in Goose Creek. Summerville won 21-0 while DF lost to the Gators early in the season 29-20.

First question will #4 be available at QB for the wave.
Maybe enough players can be healed and ready to play for the wave.
Can the wave staff get it together to be competitive?
Dutch fork should win easily.

If Summerville can channel the team that shut out Goose Creek earlier this season then they can maybe shock the state ... But I just don't see it in the cards.

Me neither DFactor..."If" we get Taylor back at QB it certainly increases our chances. Just 3 weeks ago however at Bluffton he was in street clothes. Jackson did very well subbing in at QB but that took away one of our biggest weapons at WR. We will need everyone on the field for us to have a chance against DF. Either way, I will be there pulling for our boys to shock the state !

From what I'm hearing Taylor won't be back for this one. I really thought Taylor would be back. I'm not sure if he has had some complication with his recovery or what, but it looks like Jackson is the guy this week. I thought he played well considering he hadn't played QB all season, but this puts a different type of pressure on him. He has shown he can make plays with his legs, but he is going to have to make plays with his arm if we have a chance in this game. We are going to need Felder to step up as well. He is going to have to run like the bruising back he can be and not dance in the hole. We are also going to need Burnette to show why he's so highly regarded. I read somewhere that he has not lived up to the expectations, and while I agree to a point, I'm not sure it's necessarily his fault. That being said, If you are a big time player, this is the time you show it! And I know that the Oline has not been good, and I know that the QB play has been up and down, but if we are going to win at Dutch Fork we will need Felder and Burnette both to be big time this week! As far as the defense goes, they are going to have to play lights out! I am not sure what DF likes to do on offense, but if they are a passing team we are in major trouble! We have not been able to cover anyone all season. We are going to need the defense to cause some turnovers in order to even have a shot in this one. I am not confident that we can win this game, but I am hoping we figure it out and pull a major upset!!!!!!

Dutch Fork has what I call Upstate size and Midlands speed, which is a dangerous combination for teams to have. However, Dutch Fork is not as invincible as they have been the past couple of years. Your keys to beating Dutch Fork:

1. Run Felder all night long. Live with the 3 yd gain and use a ball control offense.

2. Defend the deep pass. Keep 2 high safeties. DF can run the ball, but when they pass, they typically go for the home run. They have at least 2 receivers that are probably just as fast as Feaster, as well as a Julian Edelman in Alec DeBoer.

3. Don't turn the ball over. That lost us the game in week 5, as we had over 400 yds of offense on them and lost 47-21.

If the Wave does those things, I'm not saying they will win, but they will have a fighting chance.

Thanks for the info BBrown. Unfortunately for us stopping the deep ball is not our strong suit. Well we can only hope for the best and support the team. You never know how things may come out, That's why they play the game!

The good thing about this week's game is the wave fans don't know what to expect from the team.
So I'm sure that Dutch fork is probably in the dark.

I don't think we can out coach Knott's .while he wasn't Spurrier he did good at duke.I'd love to see the receivers coach become oc .also for us to get flat out neanderthal in the weight room.eat sleep work .also drill line techniques until we puke .wash the mouth out do it some more.we have some athletes we have yet to run one play executed exactly. I'm all in for building towards next season.we haven't played past turkey day in a while ...

Oh yeah I look for boiling springs to shock the world .
You heard it hear first.

We played after Thanksgiving 2 years ago when we lost to Sumter in the Semifinals, but other than that your right its been a long time. Like I said before it is going to take a monumental effort to upset a great team like DF, but I'm not counting out our boys yet! Now I wouldn't bet any money on us    ! I'm with you though with Boiling Springs. I think they win a close game.
