Goose Creek 50 Hillcrest 49 final
Great game played by both teams. No one ever got ahead by more than 1 score. Hillcrest scores with 3:30 left to go up by 7. Gators march down the field and score with 39 seconds left. Coach Candor goes for the win and gets the 2 point conversion. Hillcrest goes down the field and sets up for a 28 yard FG with 4 seconds left. Poor snap causes the kicker to kick it under the cross bar. Game over. Great game by the Rams. Has to be the fastest athletes I have seen for quite some time. Now our attention is on Fort D.

Yes that game was a lot of fun. Neither team could really stop the opposing offense. I only remember one punt all night from each side. I expect the Fort D rematch to be a high scoring affair as well. Should be some fun....

We really enjoyed following the GC game on Scorestream. As the Dorman game was wrapping up, GC was down by 7. Then as we were leaving the stadium GC went down and tied the game at 42 all. On the way to the truck a Rams fan was bragging that it wouldn't be tied for long. Sure enough Hillcrest went ahead by 7. As we were riding down the road I was reading out the updates on GC's response in the final minutes of the game. When we pulled into the nearest gas station for a fillup and "haircut" we all just sat in the truck awaiting the outcome. Then GBG updates that GC scores 6. Chuck asks me if they will kick or go for two to end it. I guessed GC would play for overtime thinking that the two point conversion against the University team didn't work out years ago. But GBG announces GC is going for it.
We just sat at watched the phone with the score of 48-49 and then the 48 for GC ticks over to 50 with about 33 secs left and we start high fiving. We pile out and head for the restrooms and then to Burger King thinking the game is probably over. Then in Burger King we start ordering and I announce that the Rams just drove back down the field to the GC 10 with 4 secs left and call a timeout.
I get up to the counter just as the Rams are setting up to kick. Of course I don't have much hope but I look down as I'm about to give my order and then look up at the girl behind the counter and say, "OMG, they just blocked the FG!" (That was what was reported at the time.)
Man sounds like one for the ages to GC fans. Hats off to Hillcrest! Sounds like they had another potential title winning team this year. I know it was a heartbreaker for their fans. Seemed most of th upstate and a lot of Dorman fans were pulling for Hillcrest which is cool. I just happen to be friends with a lot of gator and low country fans.
