The People's Champ

Post by STChamp 92 »

Bear with me here.. I was just thinking.. in the State of South Carolina what team does everyone generally enjoy or pull for their success... I understand that everyone is going to pull for their own team, but what particular team does it seem that no one really hates it when they win... or more times than not, no one really feels disdain for their team and program.. ok probably not anymore, but the team with the highest percentage of people that actually smile at their success for one reason or another, maybe they are a class program, their coaches show respect to other people, their team and fans are generally the same way etc etc.... for me, I would say this team... I dunno..maybe Dorman, I know we've had our ups and downs with the team pulling up grass on the Indian years ago after a big win but for the most part.... the Indians and Cav's respect each other.

I HATE BS... maybe it's because I live there... right behind the stadium and I have to deal with the parents and fans here lol.... they aren't humble at all! Fights at the little league field, everything, man, you don't know the half... these folks are some priviledge kids and parents expect them to be automatically given everything.

Based on schools I know, I would put Dorman and Northwestern up at the top of the list.

Other than Marlboro County with Northwestern.....story for another time and place......I think very few people have had any issues with how these teams have presented themselves on the field and the fans have always been pretty classy.

My 2 cents worth...........

It has to be Byrnes....

OK, even I couldn't keep a straight face with that comment. But I can only answer for me and I say that I can pull for most every team unless they are playing Byrnes....

I cannot pull for Dorman or Spartanburg, but that is mainly due to just a couple of folks that I know and for other personal reasons.

Spartanburg fell 1,000 % with the way they treated Doc Davis a few years ago. I really want to be pulling for Coach Miller to win another title, but it is so difficult because of that past.

A few Dorman folks I know have me so against Dorman, that if they beat us Friday night and go on to play Fort Dorchester or Goose Creek, I'd be in Columbia with the Lower State guys! I've already got my Goose Creek hat from a few years back when JC Gator and some of the guys came to Byrnes -vs- Gaffney.

I don't have many other "FAVORITE TEAMS" but because of folks I know from Gaffney, I pull for them unless they are playing Byrnes. I was honored to be at the Opening Game of the New Reservation thanks to a couple of folks.

And, thanks to BEAUFORTEAGLESFAN and Grammy, I can say I can pull for the Green & White! I was at the game when they played Clover for State sitting near Jimmy and his dad. Even made a trip to Beaufort for a big game one year {on a side note, attending a Beaufort game with Jimmy is a bucket list item! You will have a blast! It was even better then, with his dad with us! If you look up "FAN" at http://www.google.com" target="_blank I wouldn't be surprised to see BEF's picture!}

Everybody knows that Gaffney is the face of S.C. football. :lol: There are a lot of impressive programs in the state right now. Byrnes,N.W., seem to always be in the thick of things.Not to mention new powerhouses in the lower state.I hope the Indians will make noise soon and get the world back on center :D I'll pull for who ever represents the upper state. Well maybe. :twisted:

I don't pull for Dillon....ever. I was in the middle of the Dillon crowd at the state game a few years ago when they lost the game in the last minute. There was more foul language and threats on the coach than can be imagined. Many many people were ready to jump the fence and confront the coach on the field. I heard multiple threats to meet the coach off the field or at school the next week. It was pathetic. Never will I pull for a team that has those types of fans....collectively totally classless.

I don't think I've ever heard an unkind word about The Greenwood Eagles from any fans around the state. For me I'd say Greenwood and Northwestern are two teams that folks will generally pull for unless they are competing against them. I know Goose Creek fans are probably not big fans of the Trojans but I know several Gator fans who were instant fans of the Eagles when during the title game a Greenwood player stopped a play to go help out a Goose Creek player with an equipment issue.

I'm proud to say that personally I've seriously pulled for many many teams around the state and attended and cheered with their fans. Goose Creek, Spartanburg, Byrnes, Greenwood, Gaffney, Summerville, Bluffton, Northwestern, Rock Hill...I've sat with all these fans over the past severeL years and cheered for their teams with them.
